As you can see, our full spectrum tubes have the possibility of being lowered, but it was causing some problems structurally and so we kept it right up at the top, s hook to s hook. The lights are a maximum of like 8 inches away from the starter tray. Is this gonna cause some stretching in the seedling? Or is that an ok distance?
Also, just to put an explanation on the pictures, we've got the setup in an $8 rubbermade tub. Lights are mounted to the top. 4 23w cfls (1600 lumens each according to the package), two cfls that are 46w and warm light instead of cool. We also have the two 20w full spectrum lights that put out 975 lumens each.
We have a second rubbermade tub that we will cut the bottom out of and stack on top of the first box (cutting out a good bit of the second lid too) once the plants get a few inches on them. A little caulking to seal it off, move the light lid to top and i'll be able to lower the full spectrum tubes down then, within a couple inches of the plants.
Setup also has a carbon filtered exhaust and intake.
We have 8 seeds in the dirt. Hopefully all of them come up and we don't have to worry too much about males. But we'll worry about that when we get there. We'll post some more pics once we get some plants.
Constructive criticism appreciated.
