I have been wondering about these pages and getting inspired, especially with Chronikool's Strip show. Anyway, I have some factors that need considering in my attempts to grow which come under the following headings:
Social: I have a family of 4 which I love dearly, however my wife is not enamoured or even in any way interested in the incredible benefits that marijuana has in relation to my mental, emotional and spiritual health. In fact, I sometimes imagine what it would be like if I just came clean and tried to reason with her. It doesn't look good. In fact in the interests of our relationship an arrangement such as we have works well. The arrangement: i occasionally score a little outdoor homegrown off a friend and vape. I used to buy occasionally but with some bad experiences with dealers, and a move out of the city, this is difficult.
Environmental: I live in a house that I own with a shed(no power) and a room underneath our lounge that I am in the midst of renovating in order that its a little more private and separate from the rest of the house. The renovations are going slow but my motivation is coming very much from the prospect of growing a bit of 'erb. My wife cannot know about this. I have considered various cab designs including a speaker grow, but with my wife away for the weekend, i went ahead and modified a PC I had lying around. This is pretty exciting for me because I dont get much liberty to take over the lounge with pc parts, wiring, lights, power-boards and CFLS, without a tough time explaining.
Economic: I do pretty well for myself but with this comes a certain responsibility in the community. I have a job in managerial role in social services that means no contact with dealers locally and pretty strict avoidance of anything criminal.
My Grow: PC using powerboards, PC fans and CFLS. Box lined with foam board and windscreen reflector. So far I have one fan, light fittings, PC lined and lightproof, and my confidence is up.
My questions that will really help me along.
1. I have planned on 3 fans. 2 80mm and 1 70mm. 1 intake, one exhaust and one to blow internally(70mm) for circulation. Can I wire these up to a single transformer and what voltage should this be. I am aiming for quiet so thinking no more than 6 volts on each but how do I get this on a single transformer. Series paralel, combo, resistors?
2. regarding smell, I am confident I can build a carbon filter but dont want to slow the fans down too much. If I go with ONA block or equivalent, will I have to explain this smell?
Any help appreciated. Would love to post some pics soon also. I'm super committed to this, despite the odds(risks). This forum has inspired me.
