hey guys, This is my first post but ive been surfing through your forums for a few months now collecting information that has helped me plan my grow and i am about to start within the next few weeks. i've been buying up the smaller stuff but am still unsure about the lights and nutes to use. I'll give a little summary of my plan and im hoping you guys can chime in on your thoughts. Also I apologize for this really long post. Im a detail oriented newb and a bit paranoid ;]
This is my first grow and am not expecting any great gains but i dont want to rush into it blindly.
I have a 7x9x8 room that I want to eventually have as a SoG setup but my first grow will be from seeds (hoping for chronic) which i will trim like SoG plants leaving only the top 1/3rd of the plant for harvest. I want to use 6" square nursery pots which im going to cut the bottoms out of and stack on another 6" pot to give the roots 14 inches to move down instead of sideways. what i lose in width i am theoretically making up for in depth..I hope. im trying to fill in as many as possible but only grow them to about 35-40" max. I thought about putting 3 1000w hps lights and if i fill the space with as many 6" pots and leave space to walk through i should be able to fit 50-55 pots in each of the 4 sections. I have a second room which will be used to house the mothers and the clones once i start the SoG type grow.
I have the entire room sealed so no odor leaks, covered in Block IR and then covered in Mylar. The air flow in is provided by a 8" fan i inserted in the wall that is connected to a Pipe and carbon filter (for that back pressure) in my bedroom that looks like a A/C vent only it takes air in not out. It blows pretty hard and it should keep the air fresh in the room. The air out is the same setup only across the room leading outside through a carbon filter and pvc pipe i have inserted a foot underground into a bucket with water and pinesol cleaner that should mask any odor the carbon filter doesnt pick up. The air in and out will be on a timer so i can make use of the co2 setup. in 4 corners of the room i have those ionic breeze type fans only to cool the air though, they dont kill any odor.
I have a 50 Gal drum outside which i keep warm and have a pump in it connected to hose that runs through the wall into the grow room with a nozzle attached that i can use to water the plants. The entire area is fenced off from the rest of my backyard and there are two 110 pound rottweilers to deter any unwanted visitors :]
I have a CO2 setup i borrowed from my brother that i havent quite figured out yet but the grow will have CO2 and i will be adding molasses to the flowering to get me that last little bit of density.
I havent quite figured out the nutrients because I would have to order the stuff online and if you cant tell already im a bit paranoid especially about ordering stuff online.
thats what i have so far..what do you guys think? is it overkill with the lights. Im not sure if 47 watts per square foot is good or bad but i can put less lights if its wasting energy. also, my light bill is rather expensive already, i am cutting back on lots of spending in the house to cover for the lights and other equipment out back.
