Hello Fellow Growers,
I recently built a small ~100 sq ft greenhouse in my backyard to grow six plants. I started with Purple Kush clones in 5 gallon fabric pots using Fox Farms Ocean Forest, some dolomite lime and a little extra perlite. I built this greenhouse with some idea how it would work, but I did not factor in all environmental controls immediately, and I have been "going with the flow" and making adjustments as I'm going along. Also this is my first ever grow, period.
As such, I have had to deal with very low temps (~30's F) and also high temps (100+F) in the greenhouse and I've been making the necessary adjustments to keep it in a more reasonable range. The greenhouse now doesn't go below 70, and has hovered in the 90's in the greenhouse, but my evaporative cooling solution is barely making the greenhouse temp equivalent to the outside temp, and it gets to 115+ where I live (Cali). I just got 12 sq/ft of 4" cooling pads, which based on some evaporative cooling pad formula's, should be more than sufficient to deal with summer temps, but I also have shade tarps, my exhaust can exchange the air out of the greenhouse in less than a minute, and I built (but haven't finished) a ridge vent if I think that'll help.
The other thing I've had issue controlling is humidity. I have a couple of home humidifiers, but the greenhouse still see's low 30's quite frequently during the day. Hopefully the evaporative cooler will solve that issue.
So, on to my question! My plants have been in veg for 58 days and I have been having issues with my leaves yellowing and I've recently started measuring my soil PH and I noticed it was in the high 7's, so I did a flush (15 gallons each 5 gallon pot with balanced PH and 1 tbsp of molasses at the end) this past weekend, and it's now in the low 7's. I also pruned a lot of the yellowing leaves, but now I have a bunch more yellowing leaves! Based on what I've read, I might have over-fertilized the plants, creating a lot of salt buildup, high PH, and nutrient lockout, but I'm not sure.
This has been my feeding/watering schedule using the Fox Farms Nutrient's Big Bloom (BB) and Grow Big (GB):
Day 1 - Transplanted clones (small clones) into 5 gallon fabric pots, 1 gallon water, 1 tbsp of BB - for ALL plants, yes, I only did a gallon of water for all plants.
Day 2 - 1 gal of water for all plants
Day 8 - .75 gal & 1 tbsp of BB for all plants
Day 13 - .75 gal for all plants
Day 15 - 1 gal & 1 tbsp of BB & 1 tbsp of GB for all plants
Day 21 - 1 gal & 2 tbsp of BB & 1 tbsp of GB for all plants
Day 23 - .5 gal for all plants
Day 26 - 1 gal & 2 tbsp of BB & 1 tbsp of GB for all plants
Day 27 - .5 gal for all plants
Day 30 - 1 gal for all plants
Day 33 - .5 gallon for EACH plant - now I started giving it more
Day 35 - 1 gallon & 2 tbsp of BB & 1 tbsp of GB for EACH plant
Day 38 - 1 gallon for each plant
Day 43 - 1 gallon & 2 tbsp of BB & 1 tbsp of GB for EACH plant
Day 45 - 1 gallon for each plant
Day 50 - 1 gallon & 1 tbsp of BB & 1 tbsp of GB for each plant
Day 52 - 1 gallon for each plant
Day 55 - 15 gallon for each plant & 1 tbsp molasses for the last gallon
Day 58 - 1 gallon for each plant
I have not been religiously monitoring/adjusting the water PH as I'm giving it to the plants, but I am now.
