My friend was wondering if it would help for bushier plants if during the veg stage he added a few flourecents to his grow room. His room is 6 feet tall but the ceiling is slanted and it drops to just about 5 feet in height. The rest is 4' 3" wide by 4' 3" deep with 1X400 watt light. He has a inline fan sucking hot air out at the top of the room and another fan blowing cool air in at the bottom, there is an oscillating fan in the room also. The temp ranges from 25 to 30' but during heat waves sometimes he has to add ice to the room in a cooler' this helps keep the temp around 30. Do you think that some flourecent lights would help for a better yield and if so how many should he add? He was also wondering how many plants should he have in this amount of space? and if he should keep the flourecents through the bloom stage also?

Depends on what he's growing. I have a similar room due to the roof line of my house. I also have a 400w hid. I've grown upto 12 small autos(HBD) under it in 3 gal smart pots. Also done 9 medium size autos (auto assassin) in the same pots w/ excellent results. I currently have 5 photo's under it that I let vegg for 4 weeks.
Your temps mite be fine depending on the srain, sativas do good in high heat were as most indicas do not.

If there is no training method going on and the lower shoots on the plant are in shadows then side fluorescents could prove beneficial. I use a 400w hid and no side lighting but I trim fan leaves and top my plants..

He has 5. 8" pots with Royal Queen Special Queen No.1 feminised' they are in there 2nd week and he was wondering if he should take a couple clones and put 8-10 plants in the room before blooming?
