first time growing indoor

so this is my first time growing indoor and just want to make sure i am doin everything right. So i started from seeds and one has sprouted. I repotted that one and have the two pots under 2 150 watt cfls..i have a temperature gague, a device to see how wet the soil is, got the closet covered in tin foil surrounding the pots and also have the lights set on a timer for 18/6. I am waiting to see if any other seeds that i planted in the other pot will sprout and i wanted to know how long and how i will be able to tell if they are females or males exactly? males have pollen sacks?

sounds good so far. id lose the tin foil as it can create hot spots(you ever burn ants with a magnifying glass as a kid?)and yes males have pollen sacks. they will form at the nodes usually sooner than female flowers and look like a bunch of grapes (not purple) females will produce small white hairs at the nodes (pistils) these eventually turn into the red hair on your bud.

A cheap alternative to tinfoil would be an emergency blanket, $3 at Walmart in the camping section. You won't see preflowers for awhile. Depends on how long you veg for - around two months or so if you veg that long, otherwise, sex will show roughly a wek into 12/12.

Ive also noticed that just spray painting the inside of your box white works just as sufficiently as mylar/emergency blanket. If you MUST use tin foil. make sure the shiny side is not showing (yes there is a shiny side).
