First Time Need Second Opinion

i have had a few problems for a couple weeks that have gotten much worse and i have tried just about everything i can think of to fix it with no luck. i have 8 blueberrys in ffof in 3 gal pots being fed with general organics nutes every watering at about 400-650ppm with an occasional flush. my tap water is about 500ppm so i am using distilled water with ca-mg added every watering. the temp is between 77-84 and rh around 25-50% and i have no way of testing the ph at the moment due to my budget i have been adding ph up but still believe my ph may be low. my first question is does the ca-mg need to be added with every watering or just as needed. and also what do you think is causing the lower leaves/older fan leaves to die based on the pictures, it appears some of them have mg deficiencies and possibly potassium although that is just a guess. the first picture is how it started out. they are about 1 foot tall give or take 1.5 months into veg under 8 4 foot mixed spectrum t5s. thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Can't see the pics. But why would you use ph up if you don't know what the ph is to start with? Feeding and adding CalMag every-watering. Sounds like some isues there. Would like to help but more info is needed starting with the pics, try to download again

yea apparently i cant figure out how to put the pictures up, iv never posted before but it cant be that difficult. i uploaded onto photobucket then pasted them is my computer the problem or is there something else i need to do

thanks alot guys i appreciate the help, i was way too tired last night to figure it out. about the ph up i have added it to a few plants to try and problem solve to fix the issues and i just know that ocean forrest is some what hot/acidic and adding nutes lowers the ph of the water. i agree though i do need to check the ph real soon here. the picture attached below is how it started out.

You want advice? get a PH pen.. you need to measure the ph level of the water your mixing your nutients into.
you also need to get a NUTRIENT METER / EC/PPM PEN.

500ppm on tap water?... wtf.. my tap water is less than 30PPM!!!.. sounds like your water is polluted perhaps thats not even safe enough to drink.
without these tools you will not be able to narrow down the problem.. and it will only get worse.
last advise - invest in tools.

looks to me like you have PH issues.

that was my guess but in that case i wont know for sure til the end of the week, i do have a ppm meter so i have that covered at least but until i get a ph meter im kind of in the dark right now. do you have one you would recommend iv seen alot of the digital ones that are pretty expensive and dont know for sure which one would be better to get. one last question i have is about feeding, as i said i have been feeding every watering but would u say thats generally too much should i flush between feedings i noticed you are also growing berry bomb so i suppose u would have a better idea than i do. thanks man

Regards to the PH METER, This is the ph pen i used in my video's.. works wonders for me. its not digital though. they average about $30. you just have to calibrate it with the screw driver it comes with once a month with 'PH BUFFER' which is about $20 also. That should last half a year. (NOTE THIS PH IS TO TEST WATER PH ONLY)

the PH level of the water will affect the PH level of the SOIL or medium you are using.. are you using coco coir? or normal soil?

i am in fox farms ocean forrest right now, thats pretty much why i had been adding ph up even though i dont have a ph meter at the moment i know it needs to be balanced and also ocean forrest can be quite acidic. i had thought it was a ph imbalance but again without the meter im just guessing on how much ph up to use.

Whatever you do dont guess.... you could be doing good.. but chances are your doing much worse.. (Adding fuel onto fire)

You can feed nutrients with ever watering but just makesure your PPM level is not too high or too low before feeding.

and how much are you watering? 5 times a day? once a day?.. do you let it dry out a little before the next watering?..

easy way to tell is.. after watering your pots pick them up..and remember how it feels when its full of water.. then wait two days or so then pick it up again.. if its the same.. let it dry.. if its much lighter.. it needs water.

or you can do what i do and get a PH combo pen lol.. i just stick it into the soil and it lets me know if its 'DRY, NORMAL, MOIST, WET, WET +'

yea that would be nice to have, i would say at this point they need watered every 2-3 days and i always make sure to let the soil dry out real good before i water again im pretty confident im not over watering or anything i just wasnt sure if i was seeing so many deficiencies because i wasnt feeding enough or lock out from feeding too much, iv been feeding between 400-650ppm depending on plant size as i said before they are about a foot tall and 1.5 months into veg so does that sound about right for that point in time or should i increase it a little from what you have seen with this strain?

An old man like me can't see too well on these screen things... However, your main issue appears to be water; either too much or not enough. Post above has pointed this out, but if your soil is becoming dry and repelling water, a thorough soak will help you tremendously. If your pot is waterlogged, then let it dry until the pot feels lighter, then water moderately. Remember that 70% of your plant is water, and is more important that overloading on fertilizers.

if i had to choose between the two i would say not enough i know that over watering will kill a plant much quicker than under watering so i have made sure not to over water, it seems as if they have been ok with it i always check to see how it feels when i lift it and i always water until a little bit comes out of the drain holes in the bottom, the soil on top is generally pretty dry and compacted but not quite to the point where it pulls away from the pot. but i am trying to keep all possibilities open so i could try to change it up and see if it helps at all, im willing to try anything at this point i must say i am moderatly frustrated with everything thats happening.

dont let your pots dry out completly.. wait until they are just dry on the surface and a 'tad' moist .. just stick your finger in the soil to judge for now.

as for 'OVER FEEDING' OR 'UNDER FEEDING'

these two go right out the window if your PH isnt good.. if you ph is out of wack eg: 7.5ph or 5.0ph.. and your nurtient PPM level is perfect.. it will lockout all the available nurtients in your pot, and since its not absorbing the nutrients because of the lockout.. you get 'salt buildup' which creates further lockouts. get my drift?

eg: HYDRO - 5.5 to 6.1ph
SOIL: 6.3 PH TO 6.8PH

etc... Your plants need a PH balanced feed to be 'fed' Or they wont drink or eat and go on strike until they die.

hah not sure what you mean by that last part but usually no black ooze haha. i think you are right before i go any further definitely need to get a ph meter more than likely that is whats going on, even if it isnt i still need to get one either way it just helps to have someone elses opinion iv got my basics down pretty good thus far but iv been over thinking it way too much and making it harder than it needs to be, its often easier to solve other peoples problems than your own. appreciate your time man hopefully it works out otherwise im sure ill be back again.

no problem; whenever you encounter a problem you should have a checklist. which is what i have..

check ph,
water temps,
water nutrient levels,
temperature,
humidity,
distance from lights,
flush

you should check these off your own list a few times a week.. so if one falls out of line.. you fix the problem before it 'becomes a problem' get me?

thats a decent idea, those are usually things i note but sometimes forget to check, iv been keeping track of other things like what im feeding which plant and how much but that would probably help as well, good call.
