First time outdoor grow

hi all,

This is my first post on the board, but i have been reading here for quite some time now. I was wondering if anyone keep help me diagnose the problem I have since last week.

Background info on the plant:

  • My location: Developing country in South East Asia
  • Climate: Tropical, close to equator, almost 12/12h light cycle throughout the year
  • Strain: Don't know, obviously a Sativa and probably a pure land-race as I got the seeds out of the swag buds they sell over here. Very bad weed here, both dealers and growers have no experience of whatsoever. Never meet any growers by the way, only judging by their weed.
  • Age: Plant is now growing for 14 weeks
  • Grow location: on my balcony which, on a clear sunny day, will give the plant about 5/6 hours of direct sun light.
  • Grow stage: Probably vegetative, plant hasn't shown sex yet. I see white hairs, but these turn in to leafs later on. Plant is now 100 cm tall.
  • Medium: Clean soil, hardly any nutrients in it
  • Nutrients: Chemical 30-10-10 and 10-60-10
  • Water cycle: Every other day most of the time, but it is rain season here so i don't water it that much lately. Normally I check if the top soil is dry and then give water. There is a roof over the balcony, but when it it rains hard the soil gets some water, plant is not really affected by the rain coming down except when the wind is blowing.
  • pH: I have a simple pH testing kit, not very accurate, but i try to keep it between 6.5 and 7.5 judging through a color scale.
  • Other: Like I said, I life in a poor developing country so i don't have a lot of resources to help cure the plant. Garden stores sell a limited amount of nutrients, mostly basic stuff.

Two weeks ago, I tried to induce flowering by giving it 10-60-10 nutrients (stupid i know, but I was anxious to see if it worked). I think I kind of overfed it. Now I am flushing it with a pH neutral solution. So far only the younger leafs are affected.

Please give your diagnoses. Thanks!

Your plants look burnt.

You are right in using a high phosphorus nutrient for flowering, as this is what the plant demands.

I would advise, after the flush, resume feeding the 10-60-10 nutes to your plant, starting with 1/8th strength of the solution in water.

Increase by 1/8th strength as the plant needs it. You will be fine!

I too live in the developing world, but don't let that hamper you! You can grow with almost anything! :)

Hmmm...wow, that's some awfully odd yellowing, if I do say so myself.lol This is a tough one, so let's see if I can help, at all.....

...well, the droopiness is probably caused by overwatering. Those deformed grow tips, are the same thing I get when I throw mine into flowering, happening only on the very lowest branches, the undeveloped ones that receive barely any light. Eventually, they die off. That's not the same, in your case. I've also got the same results on clones that won't take root. It doesn't happen very often, but I actually have one right now, that's pretty similar. Honestly, I thought it had some kind of fungus developing, after being in the humidity dome for a little over 2 weeks. Well, maybe that's what it is? Maybe all that rain and humidity is hurting your plant, combined with the overwatering? It'd probably be a good idea to cut all those damaged tops off, only after the plant is on it's way to recovery.

Second,...is light. I know it's a sativa, but it's awfully stretched, and not very filled out. IDK if there's anything you can do about it, but it sure could use some more direct sunlight. How many hours do you think it gets, per day?(direct, only)

Sounds like you're doing pretty good with the nutes you have available. I used almost the same thing, during my first couple grows, and they worked fine. It doesn't look like you got too carried away, no obvious fertburn, etc....so we won't worry about that. Flushing was probably a good idea, but also the reason why it's so droopy. So, my main suggestion to you atm, is to wait til the soil get's good and dry, before your next watering, then water it thoruoghly again. Wait until the pot gets light. Lift it up, and you should be able to get a pretty good idea. Also, that looks like a decent sized pot, so if you poke your finger down into the soil and find some nice dark, moist soil, it's not ready yet. You want it to be almost to the point of drooping from underwatering, before watering again. Then repeat, indefinitely. It should perk up after the soil starts to dry. If not, well, I better have some more coffee and brainstorm some more.

Thanks for your replies. It could be a humidity problem because i life in the tropics and it has been raining quite a lot lately.

I will wait a little longer between watering to see the effect. So far the plant has been capable of handling quite some time without water when I was out of the country for work.

As for the sun issue ... yes It could use a bit more sun, but I don't want my plant to be out in the open where everyone can see it. My balcony is ideal because it is locked by three walls so no one else can see it except from my window.
