I have heard that pine trees cause the soil to be more acidic and can damage the plant roots. Does anyone know if this is true or what I can do to to solve this problem. Also, any tips for beginners? This is my first grow season and I want to do it right. Thanks for any help!:hump:

That is definitely true for cedar trees. Never grown outdoors but don't most people use a bag/pot or whatever?

I am putting them in the ground with some soil from my compost pile, I think that should be fine. I do not want to put them in pots because I want them to be as big as possible.

This is a common myth, as pine do not cause soil to become acidic.

Test your soil ph before assuming it is acidic, and best tip I can give is to start dumping compost out there...then continue using it as a mulch all summer.
