First timer but have equipment

Hi basiacly i have my room setup roughly 4x4 and roughly 7 feet in height, I have 5 Low Ryders germinating (Paper Towl Method), Propergation tank for first week or so. Problem is my ballast for my 400w HPS isnt going to arrive for 1/2 weeks can i use a uv light for just a week or so or is this dangerous. Ive look at many threads but never realy get a straight awnser. Also ive heard the use of commercial fertertalizers as ok ? Ive done a lot of research but the things mentioned are the only things im stuck about

Replys Appreciated !:bigjoint:

depends on the fertilizer, for vegg u want one with a pretty even NPK rating, i have a 20-20-20 that works great. Then for flowering u need to switch to a lower N, higher P rating. some plants donr respond well to the lowering of N and tend to lose more fan leaves then necessary when flowering, Just get something with a higher N rating or a Nitrogen additive in the form of nitrates of some sort. And as far as the light goes, the seeds will need lights untill they have come outta the ground which can be over a week from germination, Just get urself 2-3 CFL lights bulbs and a desk lamp, they need just enough so that they have a direction to grow, make sure its low enough or they will stretch and u might lose some

Brillaint so lights arent to much of a thing until i get my ballast, So i can use any fertalizer i honestly thought that you couldnt use normal shit i understand NPK.............. Cheers for the quick reply dude

nah man the cfls are fine I'd say almost ideal for the first week or 2 of growth. The small 23 watts put out like 1700 lumens so 2 or 3 is great. Depending on your soil you probably won't need to fertilize for the first couple weeks also.

Sorry ur probably gonna wanna punch me soon but what are CFLS ?????????? I have Uv's just for the first 1/2 weeks as i dont have my 400wt ballast yet IS UV OK?????
