FLIR and hiding your exhaust

Hi folks - just saw this interesting link on youtube and thought id share it with you all

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sudf5xDIhmM

So if the helicopters cant see through the walls and can only detect the heat in say a back bedroom and assuming we are not venting to the outside for security reasons - is there any way to convert all that warm air that is exiting the grow and convert it to cool air?

I saw in SOG's grow that he put the exhaust into some kind of air conditioner then ran it up to some homemade custom cooler...

Anyone running their exhaust straight into an air conditioner at the moment and would that alone be effective?

Its only a 250w im using at the moment.

Well, it's simple actually. Instead of having any sort of venting, you basically need to have a central air system installed with the cooling coil located in your grow room, and the heat exchange box located outside like a normal central air system. Helicopter flies over, doesn't see your grow room, and all they see is an AC unit going. Of course, you will still need adequate insulation to keep any excess heat in. This will also allow you to create a completely sealed room with no intake or exhaust (CO2 will be needed then).

It's all up to you. Good luck.

You dont need to worry about helicopters using FLIR to find your grow operation. Recently the law has changed and it now requires a warrant to FLIR your house. So if they have lawful reason to FLIR your house and you are growing your screwed no matter what you do with your exhaust.

You're assuming that unscrupulous individuals working for our government won't first use FLIR for some other made up reason (studying the heat signature of a city) and then *woops* that looks like a grow house, better send someone down with a sniffer dog and if that comes back positive, they will get a warrent, search the house, etc.

I know I have a small op, but my fan sucks air through the carbon filter, then goes through the air cooled hood, then out of the tent, through a hole I cut in the wall, into where my washer and dryer are, then links into a Y coupling with my dryer exhaust vent. I think that would cover anything.

Its not really practical for me to vent through my dryer vent thats why im asking, if i run it directly into an air conditioning unit will it cool the air enough? - ie to normal room temperature, so that the circulating air in the room stays at a normal temperature effectively getting rid of the heat problem?

i just set it all up to the induct to the heater spreads the heat even and they cant see it scrub the air cant smell it

thats if you run it tho the furnace but acs have a in and a out so i would think if you set it to the induct it might work the same set it to a room temp

Yeah im only running a 250 at the moment... i will eventually upgrade to bigger space and bigger lights + ventilation but im just curious so that when that day comes i know what im doing. At the moment the room itself can get warmer than the other rooms in the house when its lights on time so im just concerned about that and if there are ways to eliminate the heat issue then im willing to try them out.

:bigjoint: im using 600 watts vented into my room, from what i see they cant see how warm a room is in your house unless you were really cooking and heating the fabric of the building......... xray specs coming to a police force near you soon..............

Vent it to another room in your house and get free heat if your really that concerned about it. Like I said 250 watts is nothing to worry about.

this may sound stupid but i actaully had a dream last nite bout cutting a hole in a refrigerator/icebox filled full of charcoal and pumping my hot/smelly air in there. ive got a carbon filter so i dont actually have an odor problem but at some point last nite my little fried brain threw that idea up. dont no what the practicallitys would be, havent had the chance to research it, just remembered it when i read the thread.

One very simple idea but looks out of place is to put an A/C unit in the inside grow room wall and draw ur grow room heat and push it into another room.

Problem solved except for Aunt Martha wondering if ur Polish....

hmmm lots of opinions... i just feel that the room is a bit warm... not especially warm, but warmer than the other rooms in the house - and this recirculating air isnt doing that much for my temperature readings in my grow cabinet - its sitting at 80F and i want to get it down to 70-75F - i know opening a window would help, but id rather get rid of that heat if i could - maybe i will need to try and vent it outside somehow?
