I feel like I've noticed the trend of moving to DWC, ROLS, TEAS + Organics, etc. recently. Not a whole lot of ebb n flow action recently. Kinda sad as I am a huge fan of flood and drain.

It's the same shit, but you may fin threads labeled things like "ebb n gro" or things like that.

I have noticed that flood and drain people experience less root problems than dwc guys

This is because your roots are more often dry then wet, rather than sitting constantly in water. In dwc if you do not get enough air into the water, your roots will die and rot. Depending on how under the right air level you are this can be a slow process but can fuck you during a grow.

This is why I usually opt do flood and drain over dwc, but dwc does get your growth rate and production going way faster.

is the ease of better health factor make it better to do hydro in flood drain/ eb flow verses DWC?

I tried DWC a while back and it was a disaster, i had root soup lol. Until recently I ran a variant of both with a tote on the bottom and a deep tray on top with suspended net pots. Early plants get flooded, then once roots are well established I ran continuos flood, no airpumps and all DO provided by waterfall/fountain effect. Seemed to provide great growth without the need for air stones. Also if pumps quit the root zone drains and will stay healthy for a couple of days.

He was a dwc man but tried flood and drain and went over to all flood and drain. He used coco in potsizes about half a gallon in sog. The pots were feeded as soon as they dried out that was about 4-5 times a day with a lightmix of 600's and 1000's lights.
He compared it like feeding pigs or goose. He got his best results using this method.

I think most everyone would prefer flood and drain over most other types of growing, if they gave it an honest shot. Its so easy and results are on par with ANY other system out there.

Reservoir changes are a piece of cake compared to most DWC systems. You have to start plants with a drip ring or other form watering until roots reach out of netpot. And despite what some are saying DWC is no better then flood and drain. Flood and drain allows for way more oxygen to the roots than DWC.

Thats pretty much the same what my friends statements was.
he said with everytime it drains new fresh air gets pulled from the surrounding to the rootzone.

Hope you're right about it being just as good, i have to choose to finish out a mother box im working on in dwc or flood and drain, any1 have eny experience using rockwool slabs for flood and drain ?

Someone said rockwool doesn't dry out enough between flood, suggested to use hydroton or perolite? Hopefully some others will Ichime in
