Florescent question

I am very new to this and need some help.....

It sounds like all florescents bulbs will promote growth in plants, but it doesnt seem right, do they have to be plant florescents?

Also....I saw a setup of (2) 24in aquarium/plant bulbs at 20w/700 lumens each. Would this be sufficient for my small crop (1-3 plants)

no, they do not have to be plant florencents.

yes, those fine, that's what I use for my clones and seedlings.

floro bulbs and cfls grow pretty good. HID lighting will surely out do em but for a small crop CFLs are the way to go. just keep em close and have enough of em. if you havent read the growfaq at the top of the page give it a butchers. you should mind your temps and water ph, humidity wouldnt be a bad idea as well. theres nice combo thermometer/hygrometers at wall mart less cheap and a pool ph kit works if you dont have em. good luck with the grow.
