flouresent lights

what kind of flouresent light can i use i only want one plant and ive been growing it on my windowsill. its about 9 inches tall and i dont want it more than 1'-1'1/2 foot tall i have it in a 4"x 6" clay pot and i water it with mirical grow mix. i want to get it out of my window cuz my land lord has been snooping around im currently building a grow box for it very basic all i need now are some tips on getting it to flower and if its ok 2 use a flouresent light and not one of those expensive sodium bulbs so please help.....btw i did germinate it first.....

I'm still trying to figure out what kind of bulb I need for a single plant as well. I read somewhere that a 75w fluorescent is good for a single plant, but I can't remember where I saw that and I'm not too sure if it's correct.

I use 2 12' inch T5 (24w) bayonet style lights. I use them for seedlings and clones..right up to about 15-17 inches. I only do a couple of a plants at a time--Im just a hobbyist.


But when I want serious growth or flowering then I put them under a multi spectrum. Thats 8 54( w) High Output 24"inch....T5's.. As seen in the picture. 4 are 6500k and 4 are 3000k

I use a hydroponic set up and a grow tent.

But for my small plants my two 12 inch do the trick.
