Flower Cycle - Last 2 Weeks in Darkness.....?

I've just been browsing the different varieties available from Attitude
and a few of the Dinafem strains and the Dutch Passion WHITE WIDOW
have the recommended growing instruction that they should spend their last 2 weeks in darkness....

8 weeks of 12/12, then 2 weeks of darkness.

TWO WEEKS???
(I don't feed/water during the dark cycle....
two weeks of no light, hydration or nutrition....
It sounds wrong!).

Has anyone actually finished off their plants like this???

ALSO - I believe I was once advised to allow a full days darkness
between the last 18/6 Veg Cycle day
and the first 12/12 Flower Cycle.
I was told it gave a boost to the start of bud development.
So, if they normally go dark from 10am to 4pm during veg,
and from 10am to 10pm during flower,
and the last day of veg is a Sunday....
They would stay dark from 10am Sunday to 10pm Monday
then the 10pm to 10am lights on, Flower Cycle.would begin.

Its pretty much BS about dark before flowering.

Doesn't boost anything. Just switch straight to 12/12.

Personally I would never leave my plants in the dark for a long period of time unless necessary.

I once started cutting some plants down to dry. Said I would do one plant a night. 4 plants.
Subsequently it took me 7 days to complete the trim job due to engagements I couldn't get out of. Noticed absolutely no difference.
