Just thought I'd pop this in as I read a thread abut flowering times and when it actually starts.... some think as I used to that when you put your veged plant in 12..12 light that's the flowering started ..its not flower time starts not from the flip from 18...6 light to 12..12 it's from when you see the 1st sign of flowering on the plant after the flip this could be 1 week to 2 weeks so that's when the count down should start .as befor then it's a transition period the plant goes through. Ie. Changing its self from veg to flower .this is normally when the stretch is over with when u flip. Thought it may help some .. if you think I'm wrong then plz say .. but I don't think I am . Also keep an eye out on the plant .pistal colour change and definitely the trichomes these you want as the go from clear to milky . Not amber as it's when there milky thc is at its best..when the trichomes are orange. Amber then it's past its peak of thc. Happy growing and hope this helps a few out ..

Good info for new growers. Id add that breeder times are usually off so its best to ignore them. Also during the initial few weeks of flower stretch is an understatement. Indica dominant plants will add a minimum of 50% of their height while most will double. Sativa doms can triple or even quadruple but will also stretch for a longer period

I have to disagree on trichomes. Depending on strain some amber can be better. This is because some strains will reach peak number of cloudy trichomes after some have started turning amber. I like to use the amber as a sign it may be ready when its around 10% amber then look at general maturity of the bud.

Also there always seems to be a lot of argument as to whether more amber or clear or cloudy is best. Ive found i like harvesting between 10-30% amber but others would certainly prefer it different. Some go to 50% amber and some harvest at the first sign of amber. I really think its strain dependent and then variant on growing conditions what is best. Its important to not only look at trichomes but general maturity. Swollen calyxes, most if not all stigmas turned color and begun to recede into the bud, no clusters of white stigmas left around. You want it to look ready. Its better harvesting a bit late than a bit early. Ive harvested early before and its extremely dissapointing.

I won't disagree with you .only I like to pull when trichomes are milky as I feel they still change when drying ..also yes each strain is different and the stretch can differ massively I had white widow bubblegum that was 12 inches tall when I flipped to flower and in the 1st 2 weeks they got to just over 3ft. ..Breaders times yes I feel are misleading hence my post really .I had white widow that was 8wks flower but went 10 as I felt wasn't ready and boy what a smoke people I gave it to said that it was amazing
