six inches idont know but growth rate depends on alot of stuff such as strain of the plant six inches of plant wouldnt be worth budding unless its branches are devloped or your doing (sog) grow op

pictures would help - how many nodes does the plant have? it has to be strong enough to support heavy buds.

To answer your question, yes you can flower anytime. In fact you can put a seedling directly into 12/12 but the yield will be greatly effected. Indicas you can expect to at least double in size whereas sativas can triple or even quadruple in size after switching to 12/12.

I wouldn't hazard a guess as to yield.

if they have 3 sets (6total) TRUE leaves that look like marijuana leaves then you can (at your own risk) start to flower. your yeild will be half of what it could be and i wont nor would anyone else guarantee a crop! i do not suggest this at all but it mite work...id say wait til week 5 at least prob be up to 10-12 inches but you could top it now and it would help to...

Keep in mind when you flower that early your not giving the plant time to reach its full potiental, in other words the high may not be as strong as if you let it veg for at least
6 to 7 nodes.

I'm thinking about doing this with some hermies, just to make hash with them... does anyone think that it will hinder that as well? I'm not worried about the smaller yeild since they are hermies and I am just making hash with them and I have WAY too many to sit around waiting for them to get bigger, plus I want to get them out of there so I can get my crop switched to a non-hermie situation.

i may be missing something but it seems like a good use for them to me!

Provided you don't have any females around that could be pollinated.

GET RID OF THE TINFOIL
that does not help the plant AT ALL ur plant prob overheatin from the foil it reflects HEAT not light. and i dont think you have enuf light what are you runin? i have 4 plants 3 weeks in with 4 sets of leaves much much larger and broader leaves, bout the same height tho.

no i dont think it will support any buds either. commit to 2 more weeks vegging

dont pull the light higher just to stretch your plant . Stretched plants are not strong, and strong is what want, just be patient and let it grow to atleast 10-12"

my light is a 40 watt cfl = 2800 lumens....im pretty sure foil reflects light

contrary to popular belief, foil is 1 of, if not the worst thing you can use for reflectivity. foil DOES NOT reflect light at all (at least not enough to matter), and actually absorbs it, while reflecting heat. Pick up any growing book and that is the 1st thing it will say about lining your walls while building a room. Also, you need to add WWWAAAYYY more cfl's if you are going to have more than 1 plant! Might I suggest about 6-7 more lights, and build a little area, painted flat white, and BLOW IT UP with 2 plants in a scrog-----works great for stealth, and utilizes all of your available area & lighting. All in all, just keep growing and learning and eventually you will figure out what is best for you and your situation!! HAPPY GROWING!!!!

WHY THE HELL DO YOU BELIEVE IT TO BE A HERM IF YOU HAVENT EVEN STARTED FLOWERING YET?? herm flowers dont grow til FLOWERING,and your question was when to staryt flowering?if they were herms you wouldnt be asking unless they are clones for a herm plant and if thats the case stop wasting your time growing and cloning hermies and find some seeds to start new from... plus if it is a female then it is the size of one of mine that i floweredat that sixe now the plant is twice as tall and has atleast 15 grams of wet bud growing, still no amber hairs yet either.
