Flowering my afghan kush would like some answers please.

I'm about to flower my seventy eight day old afghan kush special from world of seeds.
as it is by first grow I would like some great advice on some do's and don't's.
also throw in some common mistakes and how to correct if spotted.

Also how far away should a 400w hps be from the plant? At all times as to not hurt the plant?

Sit in your room with the doors shut and all the lights off. After 2 minutes can you see your hand in front of your face? If so, you have light leaks. I use Great Stuff to seal them. Straight 12/12, no weird lighting schedule. Switch to bloom fertilizer the day you flip the switch, no need to continue giving grow formula, your plant should have plenty of N to support it during the stretch. If it DOES start to show an N deficiency, just back off on the bloom and give it some half-strength grow. Beware of the stretch, most strains double in size the first 2 weeks of flowering; some strains triple in height. Make sure the plant is in the pot you want it in, transplanting during flower is not favorable. GOOD LUCK!

12-18 inches if not cooled. 6 inches if cooled.

Depends on airflow... as close as you can without burning.. 6 inches is probably the nearest you would be able to get it.. Realistically you will be able to put it about 10 inches from the tops. maybe closer if you have temps and airflow under control near the tops.

Here is a picture of it currently. It's also roughly 16 inches away from the hps with some airflow under the tops
