Has anyone had any luck with t5's for flowering ?

I am thinking of trying it .....maybe.....lol

I think you'll lose yield and bud density, but that's only what I've heard. I've never tried it.

I've done seed to harvest with T5s, they work, and got decent results, but there are better options out there.

You just gotta keep the bulbs close to the tops of the plants, like within a couple inches, and keep the plants short because the penetration isn't as great as other lighting methods.

well i suppose i could do lst.

im just tring to economize to start out with, im flowering in 6 weeks from now and i might have enough for an extractor AND hps, if not, itll have to be t5's

fk it, im going for a 400 watt hps , and a nice oversized extractor , ill upgrade the light casing later for something better, and ill grab a t5 unit later, next grow is gonna be lst.

yeah i know ive seen it, but im going to go for something with a PROVEN track record, t5's ill add later for the 3 side walls , one tube on each wall at an angle should do the job...

over time i think ill try loads of things but to start off, ill do what ive said, until i have more cash to play with....

Your better off with 1 x 600 watts HPS bulb ;) This bulb offers 7% more power then a 1000 watts HPS bulb per square foot!

And a 1/3 of the price of a 600. I got my last 400 for $120, complete system, ballast, bulb, adjustable reflector, and socket.

I use all LEDs now, it's too hot where I live to run HID lighting. They were pretty costly though...

400 is more than adequate in the space im using

i had a 600 and switched to a 1000. yes you get more lumens per watt on the 600 but that's only better if your using 3 600's vs 2 1000's. as a single light, the 1000 blows away the 600. the heat difference is minimal. 145,000 lumens vs 90,000 lumens. my yield doubled from that and it penetrates much more than 600.

I veg with T5's and do very well, is nice being able to have th elight over so many plants just an inch or so away and not worrying if it will grow too close... T5 bulbs grow & bloom bulbs run only about 130-145 degrees F. With a room sitting around 79F running T5's about 1.5 inches over the plants and a small fan blowing over plants my temps stays about 82F at the top.

I do use HPS to flower though.

more or less what im planning on doing myself :)

i dont have a huge room for massively powered lights , that is WHY im looking at alternatives, but as far as hps goes, 400 is my max limit , ill be doing ONE plant at a time for myself, and prob lst grow also...

2 1000 hps would be ridiculous in the space ive got , in fact its totally out of the question.

im in my 5th week of flowering with t5s, in soil, and they are LST'ed. They are budding up, but its safe to say for future grows ill be vegging with the t5s and flowering with a 400 hps.
