fluorescent lights?

hi guys and girls. whats the crack with fluorescent lights. how well do plants grow under these. am planning on trying my hand using these so am after some help please. Is there any specific tubes i need and can i use these for the full veg stage as opposed to the mh??

I'd go with cfl's, or a combination of cfl's with tubes. To each their own. Check out this thread... lotsa your questions answered. Google is your friend :wink:

Yea, that will work for sure... as far as how many you need I'm not sure, maybe a more experienced grower on here can answer that. I run 10 20w cfls on one plant.

check my journal entry ... I did a whole run of several cfl grows in a ghetto setup . Its a great learning experience but in the longrun you will do better just using the cfl's for veg. and switching to or adding a hps for flowering .... doesnt even have to be huge one for 3 plants ... but if your gonna use ten youll be using enough juice to used a 250w hps or so to begin with ... just food for thought ... check my journal for more details . hope it helps some ..... good luck..........

hi mate. i will be using the cfl's for veg and i already have 4 white widow plants under a 600watt hps. am not sure how many cfl's i will need so am trying to do some research. i do have a 600watt mh buld and ballast but i want rid of them for electric reasons, and from what i have read these cfl's dont use as much. i will check out your journal mate

Someday, sure it's the same amount or close to of one hps, but 10 cfls costs me under $10, where a new 250w are not anywhere near that, it's all good though. I'm saving up for that 600watter on amazon:-P. But in the meantime I work with what I got.

By all means if money is not an issue disregard anything I post:wink:

I post based on my experiences and what I know. What I know is cheap gardening:-P
