Fluoroscent grow TEST.

Well it was actually a Big marlboro fluorescent cigarette pack 1000watt tubes with a ballast so i used that and have a 2700k cfl from above. I am not really a grower but a friend that lives in colorado got me interested when i saw his op. So I figured I could grow a clone from him and just see how the plant actually grows before I go out and spend a couple of grand on the right equipment. I am currently feeding fox farm tiger bloom it has been 3 days since i switched the lights over so we will see if I can get any results.

I have no clue what kind of light you're talking about. You ideally want a bulb covering every inch of your plant. But if you're just experimenting and not really trying to get much then you might be ok. 6500K is blue spectrum for vegging, 2700K is red spec for flowering. You can keep some 6500K during flowering though, just want more 2700K

yea I know most people have no clue what I am talking about when I mention the marlboro cigarette pack its just a big 3 foot tall cigarette pack that they used for advertisement at smoke shops it has a very nice setup on the inside with a ballast and 2 1000watt tubes but thanks man I just thought I would experiment before I fully committed to this.

Just posting a couple of pics from a test grow I am doing off fluoro's. I know many of you are going to say buy MH or HPS light but as I said this is a test grow.
I will tell you about my experence with CFL's, Flouro's & Metal Halide & HPS.

I generally use HPS to flower and use CFL's & Metal Halides for vegging....

But I have a 315 watt multi spectrum CFL array that I put in a closet.

I usually get 2.5-3.5 oz off each of the 4 plants I flower under HPS. I had an extra Super O.G. clone for which I didn't have any room for in my grow box. I put it under the 315 watts of CLF's and feed it and watched like the others.

The buds got extremely dense and packed. The yield was just less than 2 oz. This is incredibly Dank weed.

That's not a lot for 315 watts, but i was blown away by the quality. It took a little longer.

This run I have a Fire O.G. under the CFL's, and it is doing great !

The CFL (compact florescent light) really doesn't spread enough light at a distance. Try some T5 HO Florescents or better yet a cheap 400w HPS system. You can get them for under $150.

gold dog thanks for the advice this is really just an experiment and I was wondering if it would actually flower so I will post pics in the upcoming weeks.

I actually bought a Phototron (growing machine) in the 70's. It has only flouros. I grew weed in it 30 years ago, but we didn't know much and were growing from "Mexican Dirt Weed" seed. It surely flowered. I used it last year with a little extra lighting and some fans. It still works.

I'll be looking forward to your pictures :bigjoint:

Ok I am about a week into flowering and it's a girl so I went and bought another light so I am currently running 2 2700k cfl 68w=equivalent 300w incandescent. lumens combined equal around 9000 is this enough to flower 1 plant??

Seems like "Just Enough" I'd get a couple more on it.

thanks gold dog I think i'm just going to order a 250wcfl that puts off around 17500 lumens. also ordered a new grow tent and looking forward to ordering my new 600watt hps system for a new and upcoming project. I will use the 250wcfl in a stealth dresser after i flower this lovely lady.

You might think of using your CFL's to veg when you get your 600 watt setup. The plants veg great under CFL's and you can veg while you are flowering if you have a separate setup. Then throw them into flower after you harvest.

Here are a couple of updated pics about 2.5-3 weeks flowering....I guess it looks pretty good for cfl's and only two 68watt!! topped and I have 2 main colas not bad for first grow no nutrients!
