Almost that time. I have been doing some homework on harvesting and all of its attributes. I am curious how you folks are flushing your plants. I have seen 2x the pot size in water volume, 3x, Some do not flush, also heard if you grew it properly there is no need, and some that flush with molasses or other supplements. please let me know how you did (successfully) :bigjoint: Thanks folks!

I am in 3gal pots

-I have been using molasses, should I continue with this till the very end?

-Is there anything else non chem or concentrate you can use to flush with or use at the very end to help add to the overall flavor or outcome?

-I Have used foxfarm grow big, liquid seaweed, banana mana (banana extract nute) during veg and during flowering I used big bloom, tiger bloom, a bit of liquid seaweed, and a good amount of molasses. For the last 2 weeks or so have been using just molasses and water because we had a small nute burn issue in week (s) 5-7, And i figured it would be ok to not reintroduce any concentrates or chemical ferts.

From what i have read on here...you are supposed to flush with water the last two weeks of flowering to insure a nice clean smoke.....about the molasses...i have no clue...i will use it till the end though...dont see any harm. sorry i really couldnt be more help just about to finish up my first grow.

depends on what you were feeding the plants but you can just continue plain water and molasses till the end, there is a lil bit of npk in the molasses but its fine for the flush, you can allow plenty of runoff on your next watering and you should be fine. You didnt mention what you have been using whether organic or chem

The purpose of flushing is to remove built up salt ,from fertilizers, out of the medium over the course of about 2 weeks, to improve the taste, smell, texture and smoke of your harvest. Removal of these salts are crucial for proper curing. If a grow is done totally organic, flushing can be shortened to 1 week or bypassed altogether. I usually give 2x the normal amount of plain water every 2 days over the course of 1 weeks (I grow organic). The first flush is with molasses, then I flush with plain water throughout.

I usually let the plants sit in drainage water to be absorbed into the medium...But while flushing, I discard all drainage water to make sure no nutes seep back into the soil. The plants should yellow significantly during flushing, this means you are doing it right. Some people on the other hand dont believe in flushing.

They say that you should keep flowering plants as green as possible throughout growth, and instead of flushing, just use correct nutrient amounts during growth and flush once every 2 weeks. This seems to be what the pros do...And it seems to ensure big bud growth throughout flowering. BUT, They also may use expensive flushing or clearing products made by nute companies like 2 days before harvest. But, because the plant is still full of chlorophyll, curing may take longer.
