Flushing before cloning

I have seen several mentions on here to flushing your plants before cloning. Having read several guides on the subject w/o seeing any refference to this practice, I have some questions.
1.) Is this a necessary step?
2.) What is bennificial about this process?
3.) If flushing is necessary, how long do I need to flush before taking the cuttings?

I realize there have been several threads about reading the stickies before posting, but as I said, The only real place I have seen this recommended are in a few various threads. Thank you in advance for your time.

Which makes sense to me. I couldn't think of a reason why you'd starve a plant, cause it trauma, then continue to starve it while waiting for it to root. But... I am certainly no expert, so I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. +rep and ty

I don`t flush before cloning, but I do skip a feeding for the mothers before cloning.

I believe the principle of the benefit to be that the new cutting isn`t in high-gear trying to veg, the cutting instead is looking for food, and thus should produce roots a little faster.

I assume most of the guides leave that tip out because temp and humidity are infinitely more important.
