Flushing

Does flushing mean to actually water so much that a lot of water drains out of the holes? Or is it just as good if the last four times you water, water with plain water until the plant is totally wet and only a little bit drains into the saucers without overflowing?

Yes, you water with plain water(some people add molasses to it) until you have a good amount of runoff. But you are just as well off just doing your normal watering instead of running gallons of water through it, unless you are trying to fix some sort of issue.
