Foliage has all turned yellow, but not done flowering yet.

I'm asking a question for a friend who is growing. His plant, in my guesstimation still needs to bake for at least another 2 weeks, but all his foliage has pretty much all turned yellow. Is it best to just continue to let it flower until it dies, or is leaving buds on a dieing plant not a good idea?

well if you have yellowing leaves, you need (N) nitrogen the plant doesnt really doesnt turn colors till your last 2 weeks of flushing. Fushing is suppost to clean out all the nutes in the plant so it not harsh. your buddy need to get a microscope to check the tricomes and if there not ready then give it a big shot of some N for the next couple day till you decide to flush.IMO

Just cause the leaves are yellow doesn't mean it needs nitrogen. It'd really help to see a picture, but if the whole leaf itself is yellow its probably fine.

Leaves that yellow on the edges are burned, leaves that are entirely yellow are dying, and if the whole plant is loosing it's green color then there is a need for nitrogen.

Agree with others, probably a lak of nitrogen.

However if it only has 2 weeks to go I wouldn't give them any Nitrogen. At least when all the leaves yellow and naturally fall off you end up with a smoother and sweeter smoke. just my experience.

Probally normal, did you know a plant starts taking all the energy from the fan leaves(causing them to die) when it gets semi-close to harvest? lets see some pics!

myth, people grow some great shit keeping it green till the end. ive been on both ends of that argument before and after simply giving my plants more nitrogen during flower they just looked healthier at harvest lol

no, its not. It's a fact, If you let your plant finish properly it will eat its own fan leaves, I give my plants nitrogen during flower when they need it too and they still do it. I dont want to fight on it though, So while i respect your opinion I also strongly disagree with it. Best of luck my friend......

lol im not a fighter either, just finished off 4 plants though all green throughout, 13 weeks flower. granted every strain is diff, so i guess that can be our disagree point lol

I think it does differ from one strain to another.

My AK-47 plants from my last grow never turned yellow, and were smooth as fuck when blazed.

The point is that N should be cut off a few weeks (i do a month) before harvest.

Yes it does vary from strain to strain. Simple fact is branchy plants tend to lose a lot of leafs as compared to plants that grow more vertically. This is completely natural.

When a plant has puts on a new branch, and branch has created enough foilage, the plant ditches the leaf from where the branch started. Simply because it's no longer needed. The same thing happens to oldest leaves growing from within buds, because their is something else to absorb the light.

Plants are smart in the sense they can direct chlorophyll where it is most needed.

So what about a plant with absolutley no fan leaves? Just the sugar leaves sticking out from the buds. Would the plant be able to go on for another week or two? Or is it basically dead/dying?

Same here, i did some Big Bud and it never really yellowed at harvest, but most strains do.

Im 33 days into flowering on my bagseed and I can kinda see the bottom leaves starting to yellow. One set is dying off for sure and the next level up is starting to turn light green to yellow. It could be from lack of light but I have CFL's as side lighting so is it normal for these low fan leaves to start dying off earlier?
