Foliar Sprays. Are they worth it?

I received a jug of foliar spray for both flower and veg. The ratios are

Veg
7-14-7
3.3% ammoniacal nitrogen
3.7% urea nitrogen
14% phosphoric acid
7% soluable potash
.04% boron
.05% copper
.25% maganese
.004% molybdenum
.05% zinc

Flower
5-18-2
.4% magnesium
.1% boron
.05% cobalt
.1% copper
.4% iron
.05% manganese
.05% molybdenum
.8% zinc

I was told to use 1tbsp per 24oz every 2 weeks. So far I am on week 2 of the foliar and have not used any soil fertilizer and the plants are 4 weeks into flowering. The soil is keloggs patio plus.

I am also on week 2 for some clones and they are in promix and have not had any soil nutrients added.

I also have some bacteria to go in the soil which promotes root development, increases available nutrients and increases available water.

Have others done full grows using only foliar and bacteria for the soil to promote root development?

ive never grown in a completely inert medium only feeding through the leaves.

but i do foliar through flower. most of the cal mag requirements come from that in my setup. do be careful of mold and obviously make sure they are dry when lights on

The application is only once every 14 days so it doesnt add too much moisture. Plus I using a scrog so I simply spray the underside of the scrog and not the bud or top fan leaves.

Anytime you spray ANYTHING liquid based on your plants you run the risk of a powdery mildew problem. If your plant is weak , temps not right or anything like that you can have P.M everywhere. All plants transpire moisture under their leaves especially those that are touching. If you separate the leaves in the morning before the lights come on you can sometimes see really wet areas that were covered by other leaves and just that little bit of moisture can explode into a full blown outbreak if the conditions are right.

how are you getting away with only giving nutes every 2 weeks?

and why are you wanting root development.
theyre only reason for being is supplying water at this point.

iwould spray tops and bottoms of leaves if you can.. when i foliar i do 1/8 tsp per quart twice a day. that's just cal mag. im trying to wrap my head around how this will work suppling everything and bi-weekly

Root development will allow the plant to be larger i.e. an iceberg how its majority under water is the same idea for plants. Also a strong root base will allow good water uptake and can allow for a stronger plant.

This foliar spray is meant for commercial agriculture farms. The jugs say use 1 quart per acre so its very concentrated. I dont want to spray the tops in flower since I have noticed it leaves a salt looking residue and would rather not have that on my bud.

The soil could be supplying nutrients but it is only 3g of soil that the plants have been in for 3 months now. It could be residual nutrients from AN sensi grow and bloom but theres no way to really tell.

I have liked the kelloggs soil at $5 a bag and I didnt supplement it, it has been very nice.

A pound? How is that possible? A root bound plant in 1g pot is no where big enough to support a pound.

I am doubting that the kelloggs could supply as much nutrients as my plants are requiring right now (check grow thread). But I do not doubt that other soils could support the nutrient requirements for the same size plants and even support bigger ones so long as they are not root bound.

Also the under side of the leaves is where the stomata openings are so it is more effecient to spray the undersides.

I still don't like that (N) in your veg spray not enough(N) ..imo

foilar works but you gotta be careful what you use

best to start wit the right soil thats FFOF with 30% perlite

I prefer to use foilar as a secondary line of defence

a top up, like 2x times per week

I have done weekly sprays instead of every 2 weeks and havent noticed any negative effects. Ill try and increase it to twice a week and see what happens.

I am using promix with mycorhizae in the next grow and adding a blend of liquid bacteria and hormones to the soil. This stuff is also from an agriculture fertilizer company and apparently works well on commercial farms.
