for everyone worried about the elec. bill...

i keep seeing threads about people worried about their bill increasing dramatically because of the addition of high power lighting.... not really a worry unless you are setting the whole house up as a grow; but has anyone considered "levelized billing". your elec. company gets an average of your past bills and sets your bill at this rate... even if you use more/less power... why not set up levelized billing before the addition of your grow if you are worried about the bill??? any thoughts?:joint:

Did that and my supposed averaged bill was about 20 dollars HIGHER than any bill I had run up during the year, don't quite know how that happened but I passed on their offer.:joint:

Yeah, not sure if it is the same thing as here, but they do it for gas bills. Here they call it "budget Payments" which in my case would work out to be around 90 bucks a month. However, during the months when I do not need heat, my gas bills run around 20 bucks. For the three maybe four months out of the year that I do use gas and depending on how cold it gets my bill could reach 200 dollars a month. I opted out simply because I would rather just pay the 200 for those few months and get it over with rather than paying 90 a month on the budget all year long. For some this works out for and some it does not. However, I changed my system over to dual fuel, I use electric heat until the temps drop below 30, at that point the electric heat switches over to gas heat. The system has paid for itself in 3 years. Kinda OT, but sounds like it is a similar idea.

Really? I thought electric cost more to heat than gas? Must just be when you really need a lot of heat... Good info.
