Forced stretching?

One of my plants is really fucking bushy. Like the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th node are all about 1 cm apart. Could I leave that plant in the dark for awhile to get it to stretch out a little?

Just put the lights up higher... leaving them in the dark won't do much.

Still new to this. But why stretch it? Wouldn't just trimming inner leaves/fingers be better?

they should stretch out if you just raise the light....make them reach for that light!
