Forgot to decarb for tincture using Magical Butter

Hello!
While using my magical butter machine and making a tincture for the first time, I forgot to decarb before running the cycle for 8hrs on 130degrees (as per the directions on the site). I used Everclear and I have seen some sources state you do not need to decarb when using alcohol.
Will be tincture still be effective? If not can it be fixed? The cycle finished shortly ago and I haven’t moved on to the next step yet,

thank you!

at 130, the temp isn't hot enough to decarb especially not when its submersed in alcohol. Some say you can have an effect and others say the opposite. The MB machine grinds the hell out of the flower so you are past the point of no return to try and dry anything easily to decarb. I would say you have 3 options. 1-leave it as is and see if there is an effect. 2- separate the remaining material from the alcohol, dry it and try to decarb and then add it back to the alcohol you already used. 3- run your MB machine at 160 for 2 hours and see if that helps. I did the same once but i had trim and the trim was fresh so it was a green mess and beyond salvage.

Thank you for responding! I tried it about 2 hours ago and I feel a VERY slight mellowing buts that’s about it. You’re right about the material. Nothing really to hold onto. So I’ve restarted it at 160 for the 2 hours and I’ll try it again. Some research I’ve done has said I can possibly turn it into RSO oil but my apartment wouldn’t be good for that.

I'm pretty sure you need the temperature to be above 220F for the decarb process to take place. The reason you need to decarb before making butter or coconut oil is because the infusion is done at temperatures below 220F.

Ive done multiple alcohol extractions with never heating my material and have excellent yield and results. I always use well cured material. Oil turns out a very dark amber. I have also bonded this oil with vegetable oil without eating and the edibles I make are by far the most potent ive ever had. 1000mg thc per brownie.

And when it comes to alcohol extraction- it only takes a few seconds for alcohol to bond with thc.

Are you boiling out all the alcohol and dabbing it, though? It sounds like OP is trying to make a tincture and that is going to require the weed to be decarboxylated prior to infusion.

It can be dabbed but honestly I just dont like dabbing its not for me. I evaporate the alcohol at about 120-130 degrees. Once all the alcohol is gone you can collect your oil, weigh it, and re mix a tincture or make edibles. I dont understand this decarb process and why people think its necessary.

Because it is necessary in many situations. The psycoactive components of THC need to be decarbed before consumption to be effective. The reason you probably aren't seeing the need for it is because you are baking with it, and baking temps will decarb at a faster rate.

So the only reason for decarbing is if you arent baking or dabbing or smoking your thc? Basically the only reason for decarb is if the thc never gets heated over 220?

I personally decarb so my butter/oil/whatever can be used cold or in baked goods. It's an important process for edibles and, believe it or not, it's also used in hash making. When I make temple balls from sifted trichome heads, I put the sifted trichome heads (basically kief) between a folded up piece of cellophane, and then press and roll it with a wine bottle filled with water that is just below boiling temp. I learned this method from videos and articles by Frenchy Cannoli.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you guys. I ran the cycle again at 160 degrees for 2 hours. Tincture wise (a few drops under the tongue) it does nothing. But I took what would be about 250mg in based on my recipe (in orange juice) and I am super high right now. Soooo....I’ll take it lol. At least the batch wasn’t an entire waste. Thanks for the suggestions!
