John Boehner has just become a lobbyist for big pot. The former Republican Speaker of the House whose career almost went up in smoke in 1995 when he handed out checks from tobacco companies to U.S. Congressmen on the House floor, “has joined the advisory board of Acreage Holdings, a company that cultivates, processes and dispenses cannabis in 11 U.S. states,” Bloomberg reports.

“Over the last 10 or 15 years, the American people’s attitudes have changed dramatically,” Boehner, who was once “unalterably opposed” to the legalization of marijuana, said. “I find myself in that same position.”

A strong majority – 64% – of Americans agree with Boehner.

Boehner will become a spokesperson and will work to legalize medical marijuana.

I’m joining the board of #AcreageHoldings because my thinking on cannabis has evolved. I’m convinced de-scheduling the drug is needed so we can do research, help our veterans, and reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities. @AcreageCannabis

The maker of such cigarette brands as Marlboro, L&M, Parliament and Chesterfield took out full-page ads in several newspapers in the United Kingdom that said its new ambition in 2018 is to build a smoke-free future and eventually stop selling cigarettes.

The manifesto, as described on the company’s web site, is to help people quit smoking traditional cigarettes and to one day replace them all with smoke-free alternatives like e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

The public-health agency revealed plans to impose a new standard on tobacco products that would “limit the level of nicotine in cigarettes, rendering them minimally addictive or nonaddictive.” If the FDA follows through, millions of Americans would be spared from debilitating disease and premature death.

Lets hope this Industry doen't rape citizens by chasing profits.

Monsanto bought and removed one of the best mite control products I ever used 3 years ago.
So they are ready.

100% agree. I hope it doesn't turn into a patent/greed race being as $$ is all corps truly care about.
 
On the contrary , current speaker of the house Paul Ryan announces he hasn't evolved at all, and still considered himself an Oscar Meyer wiener.

I live in a very temperate climate, my lighting schedule hasn't changed in 3 years, yet my power bill jumped from $470 avg. to $546 this month, with a notice I use too much and am being penalized until my use subsides.

New Oil and Gas fields are opening in Africa what's the problem?
A new fleet of floating oil drilling platforms following the melting ice in Russia.

I'd suggest you buy solar panels but they don't want you to do that anymore, either.

Shouldnt good customers get a discount?
 
Businesses buy power at steep discounts to residential customers. They aren't hit with 'usage penalties', either.

Apparently if you aren't a business, you're a second class citizen.
