wow well i typed out the entirety of this about 15 mins ago tried to submit and i had timed out :/
oh well
hello all,
im vapesChronically
been reading the forums for years out of curiosity, but i decided that i would try my hand at growing
ive never done this before and would greatly appreciate any tips, advice or experiences you may have to offer
ive tried a few runs so far, killing all of them for various reasons but im on day 24 as of writing this and its not dead yet *fingers crossed*
here goes
materials
fox farm ocean forest
perlite
standard spray bottle for misting the leaves between watering/feeding
the water i use is either ozarka or brita filtered(dechlorinated)
fox farm: grow big(GB), big bloom(BB), and tiger bloom(TB)
microbe brew(MB), kangaroots(KR), and sledgehammer(SH)
i will soon have:FF open sesame beastie bloomz and cha ching(no shorthand for these expensive bastards)
the box
a converted armoire with mylar stapled to the inside
33x20x33in
advanced led ds100 led
8in oscillating fan
day1
planted seed directly into substrate about a quater inch down into FFOF w40-45% perlite
ran about 3/4 of a gallon of ozarka through it to spread out any nutes that come in the soil to ensure uniformity
small soft container i think about a cup or a cup and a half of mix
put lights to 19/5 about 20 inches from the softpots
no fan yet, door cracked
day4
seed sprouted while i was sleeping and is now about 1/4 inch above the soil line
shell is stuck to the seed leaves
i removed the "unstuck" half with tweezers
left the "stuck" half alone for the time being
soil has been tested at 7.0 ph
about 5 oz water a day
day6
seedling now 1 inch tall
moved one inch closer to lights with an algebra book
1st node developing but tiny
day7
now 1.6 inches
fan now oscillating away
day9
seedling now 1.9 inches
still only has seed leaves and one set of normal leaves
day11
fed for the first time today
5ml/.5gal FF microbe brew and kangaroots
was left alone without watering for 48 hrs for first time and its not dead yet, big accomplishment thus far
day13
seedling now 2.5 inches
fed again at previous strength
spoke to FF rep today he had a few helpful things to say:
-FFOF_good for seedlings and cuttings as long as no other nutes are given for a couple of weeks
-10-20% perlite if you want(not necessary)
-kangaroots and microbe brew safe for seedlings and cuttings
-you should be aiming to water every third day and to feed twice a week
-to transplant into final container in 3-5 days(after hearing my situation)
second set of leaves now developing
day14
seedling now 1.75"
second set of leaves turning into fan leaves
good growth shown
day17
height 3"
transplanted in FFOF w/ 25-35% perlite
transplanted briefly before "night"
cut lights from 19/5 to 18/6
day19
upped watering/feeding volume considerably to compensate for new, larger, pot
until water ran out the bottom in a healthy amount
3rd node now developed(still small)
three point fan leaves
4th node developing nicely
ph in 6.8
ph out 6.4
decided that i am going to mainline ASAP
the guide on growweedeasy says that it is best achieved when the plant has 5 to 6 total nodes
1st node developing some tiny brown/black spots
spots are manifesting only in areas that are the most shaded
not spreading to other parts of plant
does not match anything under diagnostic pics/sites
day20
plant height 3.75"
distance from lights:12.5"
4th node coming in, now about 1/4"
3rd node still developing
looks to be a 3 point fan leaf, but the "main" is thick (1/4") whereas the "shoots" are less than 1/8"
going to try to put LED's in "full spectrum" for a few hours
day23
plant height about 4.5" (measured yesterday)
it would seem that the "full spectrum" experiment was a bad one
some spots now on upper leaves
spots brownish without real patterns
looks like light stess
4th node still small and up pointing
developing a more "classic" look
looks to be 5+ leaves per side of the node
a few of the older leaves are splitting from 3 point fans into 4 or 5 point fans
day24
plant now 5 inches tall
14" from lights(just moved down another textbook due to early signs of light stress
have declared "veg" stage
im not sure when exactly this happens, ive read everything from; veg state is from 2nd set of leaves, to, veg state is declared after 1st 30 days
fed more or less according to the FF schedule
FF: MB KR BB
5ml+5ml+10ml/.5 gallon
ph in 6.6
ph out 6.4
day25
5th node developing as 4th node did
pulled apart upturned leaves to reveal a tiny 6th node
just spoke to FF rep, he advised:
-to dial KR and MB back to 5ml/GAL(ive been doing .5 gal)
insert 5ml/gal GB
-if a leaf is more than 50% damaged or dieing to go ahead and prune it
-to pick up spinasad and/or neem oil for pest control/leaf health
he further advised that neem oil is better for veg but that you dont really want to spray oil on your pistils/flowers if you can help it, so try to squash any bugs you may have before you do the 12/12 flip
well thats where im at now ill post the pics i have as soon as i post this
please feel encouraged to give any tips, advice, or experiences you may have
