Friend gave me DYING PLANTS, please help diagnose!

My friend gave me a mangled month and a half old plant, as well as three young ones. They have burns on them, but I can't find out what they are from. He told me he was watering them from the tap so I suspect it might be chlorine burns. Any help would be appreciated.

I gave my plants for someone to take care of once and this is how I got them back. My advice would be to get those things in some proper pots with good drainage and good soil, put them somewhere where they are getting a good amount of light every day, and water them with some purified water if you think your water is that bad (BE SURE NOT TO OVER-WATER). Then just sit back and hope they pull through. I have brought back worse though.

I am thinking that the 2nd pic is going to pull through no problem as long as you get it into some good soil and a nice pot. The other 2 are going to be a little tougher and you will need to keep an eye on them a little more.

Re pot into much better soil. That mix looks like the $2 a bag crap from super market and thats why they look sick and def. Tell your buddy to feed them earlier.
