It will also get any root aphids which are worse. The spray will get everything including spider and russet mites. Safe to spray and the key thing may be yeast enzymes.
Mosquito dunks also work.
I think you still also need yellow sticky cards too for flying gnats.

i fought these before ... i was over-watering just enough (in the sense that i wasn't allowing enough of a dry cycle in the plants in between watering) that i had a problem. put out some yellow sticky cards and let your girls dry out and experience cycles of dry, like when you pick up your containers you notice they need a drink. they'll be gone before you know it.

sorry but i'm not familiar with that system; however, perhaps someone in organics or hydroponics section would be able to answer that for you. i have only grown in soil. gnats are frustrating for sure!

Thanks, I bought a great tube of sticky stuff. It works great on the stragglers but as you can expect I accidentally touched it LOL

My situations have always been like undercovergrow they are only a problem for me when overwatering. If I continue to overwater they can be controlled but not eliminated. Once I properly water, even if there were a ton of them, they disappear within 7 to 10 days with no other controls needed.
The easiest problem I had to deal with tbh, this is what I did:
1) cut off the leafs with any signs, cause those will have the "baby gnats", so I got rid of them before becoming flies and lay more eggs.
2) I sprayed neem oil on the leafs stems I used 7 ml with 1 L
3) I added some soil to the surface about 1.5 inches and spayed it with neem oil. Before adding the extra soil I already watered my plants a day before cause I didn't want to water them after spraying neem oil.
4) I added yellow sticky cards that I made of yellow scotch tape, I never thought it would be effective but it did get a couple of flies
Never saw them again

Pyrethrin. 1% concentrate. 1ml to a liter of water. 1 cap full of mineral oil, couple drops of dish soap.
Applied to prepared pots. (Before you plant). Applied again in about 6 days. Reapplied at any sign of gnats during the grow. Followed again after 6-7 days. It'll kill the adults and larvae. The eggs not so much. It takes about 6-7 days for the eggs to hatch. That's why it needs a second application.

I only had a few gnats, a few too many. I have a massive amount of soil so I've and let me try for over 2 weeks and the greens still look cheerful.
I'm not sure when to water again, was thinking that a little stress would drop the weak leafs and send the message to the plant that it's time to get really sticky.
Do leafs curl under when they start to get too dry? Thanks.
