Hey yall, i've been browsing the forum for a couple months now and i think its about due time to start my first grow!

I just wanted to make sure i had everything down and some kinks worked out before everything goes under way.

"Original Plan"
-Im planning on doing an LST/SOG along with uncle Ben's topping method.
-planning to grow big moms from clones and use their cuttings to start
-DWC with aeroponic sprayers, 2 huge totes, maybe about 8 - 12 netty pots.
(The room is wide but narrow, i was planning on putting the totes side by side)
-DR120W Dark Room Jardin. (47.25" x 23.5" x 5'5")

- 600 Watt HPS air cooled hood, or i get some cool tubes. (would this be too hot? i want to get nice dense colas so i want to get the light as close as possible.
- Scrubber==Fan====Cooltube/HPS===(exhaust)
-wanted to get a huge charcoal filter as smell is a problem along with noise.
-vortex 6in to exhaust and cool.
-and an intake on the ground.

Questions
Will 600 watts be overkill for this tent? especially to cool with the scrubber and fan inside the tent also?
Hood or Cooltube? whatever will be more cool and i can bring as close to the plants?
How big of a charcoal filter? 40# suffice?
Will the fan be hearable from outside my closet? (its sliding doors with a shelf in it.)
Best Nutrients? (been hearing many mixed reviews)
CFM for intake?

Ill think of more questions as they come to my head, but the help is much appreciated.

As long as you have adequate ventilation you should be just fine. Just make sure you suck the hot air out of you growing space, for instance out of the room through a window or some sort of exhaust vent. If you dont you will just be pushing warm air around in the grow room. Your moms will grow large within about a month after they have significant root mass....make sure you dont let them get too tall because they can become a problem with light clearence in the smaller tents.

As for the noise if everything in the room is turned off (TV, radio) you will be able to hear the noises from the ballast and the fan no matter what. The main problem it sounds like you have are other people in your household. Keeping it safe and secret then becomes a problem! If i were you i would go with Led light/s for the fact they dont produce a lot of heat like the other HID's. As for the smell just get a small Scrubber attached to a fan like a 4" filter and fan combo (cheap deals on Ebay under "Hydroponics" search). For the nutrients there are so many diff kinds and skill levels to use them. For a beginner you should just go with a General Hydro 3 part Flora series. A must is a good meter. A tri meter would be the best....expesive but you wont regret spending the money.
