My plant is still growing and I notice some white fuzzy stuff on the cola bud. It's only on the one plant and I have no idea what it is and what I need to do to get rid of it. Please help.

Crap. Does this mean the bud is no good anymore? Also I am harvesting this weekend so do you think it would be better to go ahead and pull this plant?

If you have noticed it on the outside its proberly 10 times worse on the inside, pull a nug away from the main stem and have a look. bud rot is the worst of the worst, once you get it its near impossible to get rid of, if you remove the bud you are disturbing it .ie spreading the spores on to other plants and buds, plus the problem gets very bad very fast. I had a skunk outdoors last year when i spotted rot i decided to let her go another week and ill chop, bad idea. The plant was devastated in the space of ten days. once spotted i think its best to just chop the girl down.

Mold comes to mind immediately.

However, I cannot give you an accurate opinion because you did not provide any photographs.

Also, more data is needed like:
1. What is the humidity of your grow space?
2. Details about your ventilation set up...

Yeah I pulled some of the nugs apart and it's there to not to bad yet. Just noticed it last night. I know it wast there 2 days ago. Will it continue to grow even after I chop her? My grow is in a spare room temp sometime get up to 90. Yeah I know that's not good but can't aford ac in there yet. Humidity has got up to 75%. How do you think this will affect the bud during the curing process.

you need humidity down when drying it, rot spreads often from inside out late in flowering.......never smoke it......

I dry it in a spare bathroom. Temps stay about 65-70. Humidity Round 30-40%. I leave the exhaust fan on the whole time they are hanging. In this setting do you think the rot will still grow?

hey,,from your question about mold ,to stop it from spreading (from my exp) is very hard with any humidity above 30%, and if the mold is established having good airflow/circulation wont help,,it will just help the mold spread. Also I know your ment to dry in the dark but the darkness helps mold spread,, Id remove all moldy buds from anything thats not moldy,.,as mold loves finding a new place to grow.
As some have said mabye make hash,,and as everyone says dont smoke that mold,,that will fuck you up in a bad way(not a good way).
Yeah I would remove all moldy bud and dry the rest of that same plant away from the rest of your stuff,,so as not to spread those spores. As another said if you have any pics that could help.
Any how,,I feel your pain and I hope it dosnt spead.

take it easy

This really suck. It's on my best plant. Super lemon haze. Was really looking forward to burning that fat cola. What can I do to make sure this doesn't happen again?

just keep humidity down during flower, good airflow, and keep a close eye...........big fat colas are the worst, my cheese cola just toppled over rotten right through

pics would help but ive had some bouts with mold/bud rot. it gets nasty.

heres a few tips for what to do in the future:
1) try your hardest to keep humidity between 35-50 in flowering (in veg humidity can be 100% and you'll be fine)
2) keep fans blowing on your plants
3) dont place your plants too close together or buds laying on top of each other (mold/budrot can form between them)
4) air change...keep a window open or do a proper intake/exhaust. new air also helps keep humidity down. if you simply just put them in a room and close the door the humidity will skyrocket as plants do give off moisture...as does your soil when wet.
5) check colas for mold/rot routinely. catching it early is half the battle imo as i caught mine molding quick was able to remove it and it didnt spread. you should remove more bud around the problem site than what looks moldy to be on the safe side as i previously (in another bout with mold) didnt remove enough of the damaged but and it came back. so be careful and monitor is closely.

hope this helps.

as for this time...make sure you remove more than enough bud around the moldy spot. and keep a close eye on it to see if it spreads. as far as the moldy bud goes i just usually toss is it as it smells like death but you could safely make iso-hash with it (the alcohol will kill off the mold during the hash making process but i rather just toss it personally.

also another hint to know if you're experiencing mold/bud rot is to smell your main colas up close...if you detect off smells that smell decently foul then chances are you have mold/rot.

hope this helps.

Thank fellows. I still new to this so any help is app. This is my sec grow with good seeds and the first that had a big fat cola. I was so looking forward to burning it. Do you all think a window ac and a dehumidifier would help with this prob in the future?

hey,,,just a thing about the moldy smell,,,I use to use bio bizz's Bio heaven,,and your ment to stop that 2 weeks before harvest but when I used to use it all my buds smelt 'moldy',,well more damp but I stopped using it and buds smell like ganja,,so that bio heaven may help a plants transport system,,but I found it makes the buds smell like the are getting rotten, but as sm0keyrich510^^^ says just smelling a bud is a good way to see if the buds rooten cause they can rot from the inside out,,so you harvest the buds and when dying you break that fat cola open and boom moldy all up in it,,

gutted,,

take it easy..
