Galvanized tubs for water storage?

I've been told to let my water sit out for 24 hours prior to watering my plants. That way the chlorine in the tap water can evaporate.

If I use a galvanized tub, will anything leech into the water that might harm plants?

No but you’re wasting your time. Buy one of the Brita charcoal filters that screw onto the faucet. It will do what you want.
