Gday! New to the forum and a fairly new grower.

I started growing last summer but stopped at the end of the season. I grow indoors and decided to get back into it. This time around I spent a lot of time trying to master this hobby. Anyhow, I do have a question. If anyone can tell me how to kick-start a plant? I grew 3 Wedding Cakes and 1 Pineapple express. One of the Wedding cakes is stunted. It is lush and green and I moved into another tent to keep vegging. I flipped the other 3 to flower last night. Picture one is the good crop (obviously) and pic number 2 is the tiny lush wedding cake. Any takers? Or do I just throw in the towel on this stunted plant? Or maybe put it in flower too and see what happen?

Thank you! Also how long did you wait for it in veg? Or did it hulk out after putting it in flower?

I have looked at other lights but it's a matter of $$ right now. I do leave both on all the time. I just turned off the veg for the picture because as you know they come out pink. Any suggestions for lights? You know, around the 150.00 $ mark? I am also in Canada so prices are somewhat higher than in the US.

Doing well for a new grower with limited equipment. Tbh, I'd keep it. You'd be surprised what a good stretch will do. My current auto was like a third of the size when it started flowering (day 20) and I was ready to bin it and buy a cut off a mate. Three weeks later its actually stretched a decent amount and I'm glad I didn't bin it.

Yours looks far, far better than mine did when it pre flowered, so I wouldn't give up. It looks healthy for sure.

You can supplement with household globes if you want to save money, or there are quite few quantum boards available at that price. A few 14w 3000k globes with the diffusers off will do wonders. Splitters are a few $ off eBay as well. You've done well with your lights, and $20 worth of globes and a splitter will do you well if your on a budget.

Yours looks far, far better than mine did when it pre flowered, so I wouldn't give up. It looks healthy for sure.

Thanks! I was fortunate to be the son of a very big horticulturist. (not weed) but he is very knowledgeable in soil composition. (dad has a PhD in Microbiology also) He started teaching me at 9 or ten years old. Thanks, dad!!

You've got a good headstart if for sure if it runs in the family. I have had limited luck with my organic mixes and would love to delve a bit deeper into the soil food web.

I've went back to cheap potting mix and slow release fertilizer this run and it's lacking the love a good soil has, even though it's working relatively well. I can't explain it. It's like I bond with the creation of the medium, and the grow lacks some form of depth without a good build, even though my last mix was rubbish lol.

It was the effort and care that counted.

If I told you how I mixed my soil you would cringe. It's almost like I make spag sauce. I just mix in what I think it needs. I am using some top soil mixed with a more organic soil, peat moss, compost, perlite, and a slow-release fert. I also add liquid nutes maybe once a week and some molasses at the same time. I will probably increase the frequency (of the molasses) in a few weeks when they start showing signs of flowering. I believe that is why I like this hobby so much! There are so many variables, and growers can test all of them, mix and match different mediums, and different types of LST. I am scrogging for the first time this grow.
