Hey all,
I was looking to grow some plants in some woods outside of atlanta Georgia. i was wondering what the best time to plant them was? Ive never grown outside before, so if theres any tricks of the trade i'd appreciate the knowledge. Ill probably start them indoors till they are stronger, then transplant them outdoors. Also, im not sure how often i will be able to check these plants, i am going to plant a mix of feminized and non-fem seeds because i want them to multiply and grow wild. Is this possible?

Most of the woods around Atlanta are frequented by people, deer, rats, and choppers...

I advise against the woods around Atlanta. I've encountered cops more than a few times in the woods around Atlanta. They actually look for crops out there.

Sorry but I think indoor would be a better choice for you. Unless you've got some secret place that not even the deer can find...

if its a secret spot trust me the deer know about it and if the deer know about it a hunter prolly does to ..

thanks but this isnt public land,i would give you more information about it but i dont want to blow up my spot. Lets say this, hypothetically i have a great patch of undisturbed land in mind. If i wanted to get plants to grow in southeastern us, warm temp climate, what is the best time to plant? my hope is that animals WILL find my first crop (which i also hope pollinate each other), the seeds will be excreted afterwords over a larger area, ----> wild marijuana plants!

Just like Johnny Appleseed.
You would plant after April 15, to avoid the chance of frost.

Be careful if you need to chop any trees down...

I thinks holands hope would do well where you are with little to no care from anyone. It barely even snows there.

do you guys have any long term pesticide suggestions? things i could do to the grow site or plant very infrequently to keep insects or, egads, fungus off my ladies and gents. I remember reading somewhere about a metal ring at the base of the plant supposedly was good at keeping insects from crawling up it? o_O it might have been bs but if theres any ideas out there id love to hear them.

Ive got a small chunk of privately owned land a few hours from Atlanta and i dont know if i would want wild plants all over it. That just kinda sends up a red flag for choppers. Besides wild weed that your not taking care of is going to be ditch weed that deer and rabbits are goin to find first anyway.
From what i have read/heard a plant, around this area with our lenghty season, that has been takin care of can yeild up to a pound. It just sounds to me like it would be more rewarding to have a select few plants that you look over and take care of than having a bunch of wild ones everywhere.

I tried just what you are wanting to do several years ago and it just didn't do like what you are wanting. You may have better results than I did, but from my experience here in Georgia with drought, deer, and being "discovered"..... you're kinda pissing in the wind. You pretty much have GOT to visit the plants to keep them alive till flowering and into the period wherein they might sustain themselves by getting eaten by animals and seeds growing in their poop somewhere. Something else to keep in mind.... This is pretty much the absolute worst state to get caught growing in. Anyway, good luck!

Its still a little cool right now but i hope to have all of mine outside by April 1. Ive got the deer and rabbits under control with the fishin line trick and a small wire cage but my main concern is insects. Does anyone know what i should prepare for out here in these Georgia woods?

I have read that the neem oil does work Ive just never used it. Ive also read about a caterpillar spray by Safer brand that is supposed to work pretty well. I got to reading that thead about worm season and it scared the shit outta me... i didnt know i had to watch out for moths. Really I just dont know what might start attacking my shit out here.

You don't want to know what I use for insects, lol. The purist organic out & out growers on here with the legal grows tend to scream and wet their pants when you start mentioning heavy insecticides, but I've found that if you only spray the leaves, the bottom of the stalks, and the ground around them with liquid Sevin that you will never, ever have a problem with insects of any kind. I take great care not to get it on the flowers and I have great results. It is what it is!

What is the fishing line trick and wire cage?

whats neem? what does it protect against
