Please don't post until you see the happy plumber. thank you.

first off we have to pick our beans. i dump mine out and take an overall look at what i have. any white or green seeds are put off to the side. they will be pinched. if they crack they get thrown out. now i simply stare at the remaining beans. suddenly one catches my eye. "hello little bean." there's 1. i do this until i have the # i need.

once i have my beans picked it's time to get them wet. i use an old trick i learned in elementary school. the cup and paper-towel method. i have problems with forgetting to water my beans. by using the cup method i can accidentally forget about them for a day or 2 and still be ok. i start with a single paper-towel and a small tumbler.

i fold the towel into thirds, roll it into a round shape the diameter of the cup then slide it in. once the towel is in the cup i wet it.

now i take a small paintbrush or anything long and skinny. i slide it between the cup and the wet towel and open it. then i drop in a fresh bean.

i like to keep about an inch of water in the cup. it will wick up the sides and keep the towel at the proper moisture level. make sure the beans are above the water line. i will then place the cup on the back of a shelf or what-not. somewhere somewhat dark and warm. i check it daily and keep the water level up. within a few days the beans should sprout.
