Germinating Homemade Seeds (sour diesel/indica hybrid)

let me give some background of my strain.I started with an afghani indica dominant strain (female), and found a seed from a bag of sour diesel which ended up being a male. So, i crossed them. I let the buds go to normal harvesting time and the seeds came out looking great. Nice big, dark brown and hard, virtually none split out of about 200 seeds i got.

i tried all my traditional method to get these to germinate and failed miserably at each one. i tried my foolproof paper towel in a plastic baggy method with dismay. Then tried peat, rockwool, soil , and finally gave up trying indoors and just threw about 30 seeds into my garden outside. i managed to get 6 plants to sprout, which i put indoor in a dwc with cfls. 5 plants ended up being males, but just at the last moment a female showed her two little hairs.

i took a clone of the sour diesel hybrid and put her in the veg room. i will now continue flowering the donor plant to check for any hermaproditism or intersexed charachteristics. being a sour diesel im so paranoid about it being hermie. but say if it where and it pollinated itself, could i take the seeds and have a chance to get female out of it?

i still have some seeds left over from the cross, i had them in the fridge trying to simulate winter for a couple weeks and when i took them out, not noticing, condensation built up in the container and caused mold to grow all inside the container and on the seeds. i dried them out for a few weeks and then washed them off with a spray bottle of water and dried them. they look good as ever now but what are the chances that the mold will cause them problems germinating. these seeds had a hard enough time germinating as it was.

Are the seeds too thick?
i thought that may be the possibility that the shells were too thick or too hard for the seedling inside to sprout, so i tried the sandpaper trick to soften the shells a little bit but still no luck indoors
