Germination &Climate

This is my first time growing in North Central Florida. I use to in NH but a whole different climate.
Well 1st ? I am going to order some seeds online. Is there any strain anybody can recommend that likes heat and humidity? I really don't have anyplace in the house to grow them. I have some nice morning sun and then filtered sun areas I have been checking out.
and second and I guess this is most important. I have been told to germinate in moist paper towel and it has NEVER worked for me. How do I successfully germinate.

Hi Wicked Carla, not trying to be funny, but you say you have grown before but dont know how to germinate your seeds????No wonder youve had no response.Do some online research, there are plenty of sites out there.I researched for about 9 months b4 i sent 4 seeds.I`m still messing up,haha.Good luck.

I have had much success for germination via paper towel method. Here are my steps it is simple and easy to recreate:
1. Wet Paper Towel throughout and wring it dry until it is slightly wet.
2. Place seeds into middle of paper towel(s) I usually use 3-4 paper towels onto of each other.
3. Fold paper towels up into squares so the seeds end up in the middle of these squares.
4. Place Paper towel Seed package into a Zip-Lock baggie, and place baggie in dark space(i.e. drawer, closet, etc.).
5. I usually wait 2 days adn check, most of the time the paper towel is drier then before so i slightly wet it and then softly squeeze out excess water. ( YOU DONT WANT IT TO BE TO WET, USE COMMON SENSE)
6. With in 3-7, sometimes up to ten days they should sprout tap roots.

Put those bitches bout 1/2 inch into soil. lightly water area and enjoy your new seedlings.

angryprobe's method is spot on. I have never lost a seed going the paper towel route. I recently ordered some auto seeds, and doing some reading on here, everyone was saying to plant seed into final pot. both seeds I tried it on sprouted and died. I will use paper towels from now on. More than likely the deaths were my own fault (overwatered), the paper towel method keeps me from even bothering them for 2 days, so they get a better start in life.

Thanks everybody :) Now any advice about the heat and humidity a specific strain? Any tips. The sun is so hot . Would I still get good results say morning sun and then partial in the hottest part of the day? I have my eye on some seeds that are geared for humidity. GTA Seed Bank, have only heard great things about company the strain CBD Sweet N Sour Widow.
and to you Robro, hubby always took care of germination it was a partner type deal and he has passed on. Just sayin.

I germinate my seeds in a cup of water. Fill up a cup of tap water, let sit over night, add seeds, they float for the first 24 hrs then they should sink. If they are stil floating gently push them under the surface, they should sink then. Wait for the seeds to crack open (within the first 48 hrs) and the little tail to appear (taproot) put about 1/4 in under pre-soaked soil. They should pop up out of the dirt within 48 hrs. This is my experience, backed by the proof of my current Journal. Growing 1 x 60 Day Wonder and 1 x 60 Day Lemon by DNA. There are many methods so research and test it out to find the best for you. As far as high humidity/heat strains, definitely Sativa Dominant strains, you don't have to worry about heat as much outdoors as indoors.

Sorry for your loss Carla,an earlier explanation of why you didnt know how to germinate, and i wouldnt have asked the question that was obvious.Sorry again.I plant my seeds into a coco plug, pointy end down,if you cnt tell the pointy end, lant them level, gravity will sort them out.Water them in lightly, leave them in a propogator(heated)with a glass jar over them,in 2-3 days it will pop.I also had success planting straight into final pot, with a plastic cup with holes in over the seed, and put in my grow tent. This method took a bit longer(5days)but worked.Cnt help you with your other roblem tho.hope this helps you Carla.
