Sorry guys. I'm a noob and I've a question. I put my seeds in a cup of water. They were about 2 years old and only one cracked. I put it in rockwool cube which had soaked in water that I ph'd to 5.5 for four hours. Got it under a humidity dome in about 78-80ºF. The strain is lemon kush headband by HSO. It hasn't sprouted yet and I'm a little concerned. It cracked about two days ago. I have some backups coming (northern lights & wonder woman) but if they are intercepted I will Really need this lemon kush headband to work. Any comments or pointers would be welcome. Thanks in advance, folks.

Be careful not to drown the seed, that's the problem i had when i first started.. You want the medium the seed is in to be moist NOT soaked.

Also patience...
Okay thanks. Good thing I ordered some backups because I probably drowned the poor little girl. What do you do? Do you just allow the rockwool cube to dry up some or just shake the heck out of it? I'm pretty sure the cube was laden with soaked up water when I placed the cracked bean into the hole :'(

Give the seeding time,i put 3 in soil last night they will show when there good and ready,at a young age the spend most of there time promoting new roots ,they will show,I have never had seeds that long to be honest, and planted .I do have old beans but,I see no need unless they are landrace, seeds that you have got while on your travels ,and you are wanting to save them for future breeding ,I have some from Pakistan and afganistan Jamaica seeds I brought back two year ago orange hill pink, and the orange hill skunk, these are been lost through seeds been brought in from Holland ,shame, really but I think that greenhouse took a shit load over with them ,while filming the strain hunters threads on you tube.
that was brought back about 3 year ago,I will only ever use these to breed if there ok,after a test grow

i use rapid rooters, after soaking in ph'd water i squeeze the rooter in my hand to get the soaked water out and it just leaves it moist. I put the seed in and put it on an inch of hydroton in my dwc bucket with bubbles going underneath. The bubbles splashing will allow the hydroton to wick the water and keep the rooter moist.

I wouldn't worry quite yet, time will tell.

I germinate with paper-towals, stick seeds in moist NOT wet paper-towals,- make sure you separate seeds from one another - roots could get tangled if too close.. once seeds are in moist P-T, put in small plastic bag, blow into it n tie it tight, stick in dark place and they should pop tap roots 24 to 72 hours.. good luck.. Happy growing,

Thanks. Thats probably how I'll do them :)

The easiest way to germinate seeds is to just put it in moist soil, use a propagator (humidy dome or whatever you want to call it) and patience.

All this soak it, tissue paper blah blah and so on is not required.

All methods work It's just controversial and preference personally I like the "paper towel" method and have never had ill affects 99-100% Germ rates

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Rollitup mobile app

The paper towel method suits me because it lets me see exactly when seeds pop tap root, as for sticking them straight into soil i sometimes do that too, but iv 'lost' a couple - by seeds been lost in soil waiting on them to pop..! I have a hundred % success with paper towel method, so im sticking with it.. Happy growing,

I have tried just about every method of germination so far and by far my favorite is just to drop them strait into some cloning plugs. (I use GH rapid rooters)

I've had 100% germ success with this method (though they were all top notch seeds).

I use a heat mat and plug tray with a dome just as if you were cloning. You want your plugs to be moist but not soaked, if they are dripping it's way too much. Then add a tiny bit of water to the bottom of the tray for humidity.
As soon as you see the seeds start to rise take off the dome, unplug the heat mat, and watch the plugs very carefully 3-4 times daily. The seedlings are extremely fragile at this point and even 20 minutes in a dry plug will kill them.

My germ rate with 8 seeds so far 100%, 7 germed in under 24 hours, 2-3 in less than 12!

I got new seeds in and I am now 100% on all my germinating and have done them all in rock wool cubes. I just needed to not retain so much water in the cubes :P I now how four beautiful little girls getting ready to go into veg here pretty soon. Thanks to all.
