get rid of my flies

I've been having a few of these little flies flying around my plants, been keeping them under control by spraying them almost daily with this organic spray. But my gf's parents came to stay with us for a couple days and I had to hide the plants and now, they're just over run with these flys. They don't seem to be causing damage, but there's just soooo many of them. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

i hang ziplocks filled a quarter way with vinegar on the outside entrance to grow area,works fine for me.The bags are closed so you dont smell the vinegar but flies do.

in ur diy shop u can buy these sticky paper sheet water the plant then put the sheets on the top of the soil. U may have to cut the sheets for them to fit. The flies will stick to the sheets and die. Or u can buy some neem oil and apply it. The neem oil wil get rid of them and wont damage ur plant.

I had the same problem, go immediatly to the store and get neem oil, i use einstein oil and it works great. The oil needs to be mixed with coco wet before applied. I use 2 tsb neem oil, and two table spoons of coco wet to 1 quart of water. These are directions i got from a friend and it works great. Do you have little white spots on some of your leaves? If so look on the bottom side of the leaf with a magnafine glass for little white bugs. also mix some of the neem oil mix up and put it in a spray bottle, about 1 minute before the lights go out shake that fucker up and spray them down. Here are some pics of my recovered plants under a t-5. last month they were bad. these pics were 10+ days ago

Thanks for the input, the flies have all but disappeared. Couple lingerers, I'm sure they'll be dead soon too. Really not sure what kind of flies they were. I've only seen the larvae a handful of times and they were all white, but so tiny, that's all I could tell. The flies themselves were brown or black, and there are literally thousands lying dead in the bottom of my 18 gallon tote.

Haha, I have to admit, my first idea to get rid of the flies was such a stoner idea. Went right onto ebay to buy some Venus fly trap seeds. It was only after I got the seeds in the mail that I found out it takes a year and a half or so before they even grow traps. Haha, they're getting germinated right now though...

i would still use the neem oil, they might have layed eggs in the soil and the roots are going to be eaten. its a possibility not to discard to be on the safe side. better to be safe than sorry

i go to the dollar store and i use those sticky mouse traps get four for a dollar and open and put on soil after watering and in a few days they all be gone.

they sell venus fly traps for like 5-6 bucks at walmart

will they fuck up my garden? can they thrive in the same environment?

I've had them before, they're pretty easy to grow. They do need high humidity though, I'm going to put a small fishbowl inside my grow space and keep it extra moist.

I can only take pics of the plants in veg right now (lights in the flower tote come on at 7:35). Anyways, I started germinating them 3 weeks ago this Thursday. They're under two 65W CFL's 24/7. Temp is around 78 most of the time. And they're all in 1 gallon milk jugs with the tops cut off and the sides taped up.

The first pic is of my best plant. It's about 4 or 5 inches tall. I had them all in 10oz containers for about a week, I put my good plant in a milk jug about two days before I put the other 4 in and the size difference is incredible.

The second pic is still of my good plant. But it's showing some of the leaf damage I have. I'm pretty sure it's heat damage, got too close to the lights one time. And the last pic is one of the other plants, has some of the damage too. Not sure what it is though...

Forgot to mention, I did use the oil. No more flies... in the dirt, however, there are a bunch left and I think they're coming from underneath my pots. The little white mites (I'm assuming are fly larvae) are gone too. I do want to clarify that I've never seen the flies or the mites on the plant. In my flowering tote, they go into the dirt for the dark cycle and come out once it's light again. I've seen the mites on the plant once, and that was directly at the base of the plant. They were just chilling there for a minute, they must of felt my breath or something cuz then they went under the dirt. And I've watched mites, and they too seem to be just chilling out on the dirt.

Na, they wont do anything to your garden. I had a venus fly trap and still some drosera's in mine. I think the drosera's work best. They survive in my climate 19-25C up to 60% humidity. Just add straight water. The venus, I think, require a larger prey to trigger her traps. When she does trigger she needs a good feed, ie not on some mingy gnats, lol. I have a fly issue at the minute despite my drosera. Im going in with the neem.
