Im new to the world of pineapples. Bought my first one about 3 weeks ago and never had a fresh pineapple in my life before that.

Is this ripe enough or do it need longer?

I just figured they were supposed to be more orange. The last one i had i ate way to early it was still pretty much green. Fruit was still pretty hard to chew through

I'm making a pineapple pipe today! Thank you for the inspiration! That one looks ripe, ready to slice into!

it could go a few more days, but it looks plenty ripe atm. It will also "ripen", in a fashion, in the fridge if you don't eat it all.

I fucking LOVE fresh pineapple, but be careful, acids in it dissolve proteins in meat, this makes fresh pineapple juice a great addition to almost any marinade, but has the adverse side effect of also dissolving your mouth when in its natural concentration in a fresh pineapple. Generally your tongue will start to bleed first, that's a good sign to wait a bit before you eat anymore.

yea, your right about green pineapples, usually means its still not ripe enough.

It should very fragrant at the bottom of the fruit.
We almost always have to let it sit 2-3 weeks when purchased at a supermarket.

Pineapple, Fruit of the Gods!

Sprinkle cocoa powder on top & grill.
The cocoa caramelizes with the juice to make a healthy candy.
Man is that stuff good !

MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm pineapple.

I keep mine in a paper bag as they ripen to protect from fruit flies, fungus gnats etc.... But pineapple's don't ripen anymore after harvest. Their starch is stored mostly in the stem. After it's transferred there is little change.

The reason you set them aside is that they are losing fluid. So they taste sweeter after longer holding because of this evaporation and concentration of sugars.

If you didn't wait and cut the pineapple to soon save it by grilling it (very efficient evaporation), YUM!

Oh and I LOVE Pineapple too :)

I know a lady who did that, they turn into nice looking house plants
Oh they so do we have 2 at my aunts we planted last summer. They take a year or so depending on growth. I would luv mini fruit trees all over my house. I saw my first lemon tree in California last year... nothing like our standard apple trees we have here lol

don't you have to sprinkle something on the head of the top of the pine apple thing after vegging it out then it will flower a pineapple ? anyone know what that is that you have to use to get it to flower ?

Project Imma smoke outta that motherfucker has been put on hold, until the boss lady gets home, so that we can acquire a pineapple. I almost went with a mango, but... It's a pineapple thread! I had enough money for a pineapple, or a mango and smokes. I chose to skip the mango, and get the smokes only.

I'll post pics!
