Getting Busted in Ontario!

Hey,

I am thinking about growing some plants in my apartment in Ontario. I was just looking into legal and am wondering if anyone has any experiences recently with the law on drugs in Canada.

I am planning on growing maybe 2-8 plants tops. What I am wondering is, if somehow the police got a warrant to search my apartment(which I'm not sure what they would need to get one, perhaps if you're familier with law in ontario you can let me know). And they found my 2-8 plants, what kind of legal situation would I be looking at?

I am currently 20 years old with no criminal record.(if this would help my situation)

I want to just prepare myself for the worst case scenario.

Thanks in advance, Please post your situations and the outcomes.

Just thought I would also add that in my rental agreement it states that the owner may enter the apartment if given 24hours notice, or without notice if they think in their opinion their is an emergency.

If the police wanted, could they just get my landlord to give me 24 hours notice and then have them accompany her/him in my apartment for a search? also since it is stated that they can enter if they feel there is an emergancy, could the police just come in for no reason and state they thought I or someone was in trouble or some B/S.

here in the U.S the police ONLY need pemission from the landlord to search NO NOTICE NO WARRANT. so if the police susspect you , your hit unless you own your house .hope that helps

Don't do it,waaaay to much risk of getting popped. Most likely scenario is,the landlord or his maint. peeps come in while you'r away & find your shit & call the pigs.Or,the maint.dudes rip you off or call their peeps to do a home invasion on your azz. Can't tell you how many times I read on these forums about landlords coming in & finding the goods. That 24 hr. clause don't mean shit to john law once they get that anon.tip on your grow.

Makes sense, not sure if it works that way in Canada, Probably. Anyways I was more so asking about the Warrant etc, is if I was suspected if there was a way to protect myself. I.E asking for a warrant etc..

Not really any maint going on in here, lived here for 5 months so far and nothing. I live in a retirement apartment building where 80% of the residents are over 70, also the main reson for moving out is deceased. I know a few other tenants, old people that smoke up in their apartment and on their balconys and no one ever complains. I guess it is a possibility that someone(from the management office with access to the front keys) could come in here while I was away and creep around and eventually find my stuff(although I don't think it is likely). I have a dog so I would hope he would attack intruders(but he's pretty stoned most the time). An option might be to put a good lock on the grow room where I plan on growing in the closet. That way if for some reason someone did come in, they wouldn't be able to get in without me present.

I don't really socialize with anyone in my building or around here, mainly because it's all old folk. But I don't plan on telling anyone about my grow either. So I think I am relatively safe when it comes to police snooping around.

I am more worried about an increase in my hydro bill and it being suspicious. Or a potential fire hazard if I am having the lights on when I am not here. Anyone every had fire problems with a 400w HPS light?

Anyways, I'm still interested to see if anyone in ontario has gotten caught or knows someone close to them that has with around the same amount of plants and what was the legal preceeding.

i was thinking the idea for a while, i personally always thought aprtments are good places to go as long as you landlord has a good rep for minding his own, along with not leaving clues.

Agreed, not a good idea to do it in a rental unless you can hide it real well.

The pot laws in Canada are invalid, ccldr.net has a free defense kit that will get your case thrown out. Seriously.
