Getting Enough Vitamin D?

Was debating whether this topic was more suitable for "Toke N Talk" or "General Marijuana Growing". Figured more growers will get it, specifically indoor growers.

I'm a couple weeks in to my first grow. I've got a small box pumpin out just under 300w of light. So far I've been having crazy amounts of fun with this project and have felt like a kid at times. It seems whenever I can spare a moment I'm sitting in front of the box looking at temps, checking soil, if it needs a water, nutes, are the lights too close, too far, etc. Anywho, after having spent so much time already invested to this project I'm feeling a spike in my overall mood. I'm a little more "chipper", shall we say.

I come from a colder climate and winters bring very short days. Seasonal affective disorder is quite common actually. But over the past few weeks I can't help but think that all the time spent in front of those lights is actually improving my mood. Anyone else experience this?

I know part of it is due to having a new hobbie and the pure fact of learning about something new that's fuckin' bad ass super cool! Learning something new is always enjoyable and uplifting. But something tells me those cfl's might be given me an extra vitamin D boost needed to get through those dark winters.

Well the darker your skin the more sun exposure you need to get the right amount of vitamin D. Since I live in Scotland sun is pretty rare, only from about May to Sep is the sun strong enough for us to receive decent amounts of vitamin D.

Personally I'd say it's a mixture of things but you're right to say that vitamin D is having an effect.

Lol, i don't think cfls will get you sunburnt bro, a 1000w hid can burn if your in there too long too much and they are vertical..

I have a friend who suffers from seasonal affective disorder. He also benefits from smoking marijuana. I told him about the potential benefits of growing to help offer solutions to both these points. He's just too in fear of Babylon to attempt it. He spends much of his winter days sat in front of a powerful light that is NOT helping to grow weed. Crying shame in my opinion.

Tell him growing is way more entertaining than anything found on the tube. If he's paranoid, imho growing a few plants for personal use is as much risk as picking up a quarter from who knows where. Probably actually safer to grow it yourself.

But ya, smoking definitely has a factor in it too, but I smoke on a consistent basis and it's only recently with the ladies pokin up above dirt that I've noticed a spike in attitude, maybe cuz spring is comin around too!

Anyway hopin you guys are all experiencing the same thing, whether it's from extra light exposure, good hoots, or just a fun hobby to dig into. Happy growin'

Most folks don't get enough Vitamin D. Keep taking em. I like grow and sunlight too. Massive flourecents like at work and store make me feel odd. Best discreption I can think of.
Staring at plants makes em grow faster..
