Give Her A Bone: Dry Ice

it's like $1.20/lb at the grocery. if you're not wanting to buy an expensive setup for a CO2 tank.

it could be placed directly into the grow area and allowed to sublimate at whatever rate. this way it would also probably affect temperature which might be good for some people if heat is a problem. rate of sublimation could also be affected by placing in front of a fan?

there might even be a way to build a container with a hose attached that could feed the gas to the area from a distance and warm it on the way if coldness is an issue. might still be tricky to regulate the supply. the container would have to be built to handle pressure OR more or less insulate the ice. with the later approach such a container would not need to handle much pressure and would simply need to be generally air tight and have a hose. just thought of using a balloon to allow the container to handle more pressure.

was this post a waste of time i just had to share my idea. i did a search and didn't see anything about anyone suggesting this before. am i wrong?

one problem i do foresee is that last time i was at the grocery and asked about the dry ice the checkout lady wasn't sure if it was in stock so that kinda tells me they don't always have it in stock.

How about a small cooler with a hole drilled in the top? could place the cooler behind a fan to have it blow the co2 towards the plants. this way the dry ice lasts longer and wont melt as fast. seems cheap and easy enought to give a try?
