Old Hippy here, I do a couple of grows a year and smoke maybe half the year round, my couple of grows basically give me what I need and I seldom have to resort to dealers and obtaining weed elsewhere. What do I do with half the stuff I grow--I give it away. local elderly dudes are affectionados of my efforts, my son and his pals get a little goodie bag when they visit, many local folk who don't smoke weed for recreation swear by my weed for med reasons like sleeping better etc--------so am I an idiot or a pillar of the community ? I myself am happy with my actions, it seems to fit well with the world as I see it, a hippy type world where folk help each other out, but others say I'm too easy going and should sell it.----- But hey, Love and Peace man. Do we have any similarly community minded stoners here. Just wondering.

Lmao i love this site. I say Give it away to those who otherwise cant afford it. The ones who can afford it let them go buy it. Right on man i think that is the greatest thing ever. mabey make some oil buy some really decent hand lotion and add the oil to it and give it to old people with soar joints ect. either way i like what you are doing.

i grow for myself and a few mates, i dont believe I should sell it and I give away a bit
I also make edibles and cure and store my reserves in cryopaks.
it feels good not to give my money to some guy or gal who wouldnt care less what chemicals
are used or take any care in the curing or drying process.
My wife suffers from OCD and severe anxiety and I have PTSD from a childhood I wouldnt wish
on my worst enemy, not that I feel sorry for myself because it is what it is and i just get on with it but we still carry our scars.
I always resented paying someone else for it and I love growing and i love my plants, I love helping my mates and they
are always appreciative of my efforts and reckon my product is better than anything they've bought.
I sometimes get back little handmade things or a case of beer or a bottle ends up in my hands or on my deck when i get
back from work as a thanks. I think i feel better this way instead of dealing and I think its very noble you are helping folks out.

You are a pillar of the community and a shining example of my ideal of what a grower should be. That's not to say there isn't a place for reasonable and fair monetary gains. For myself I too prefer to be Ganja Clause.

Good on 'ya, Bilbo. You are by no means alone. I started growing under a 250w and shared with a couple of friends, and also spread it around at parties. Now I grow under a 400w, and plan on upping my giveaways. My girlfriend's mother really benefits from the medication (not yet available to her legally in my state), and I am deeply satisfied contributing to the decommodification of pot. The best is giving away high quality weed to folks that can't even buy the same quality bud.

yeah i see the grows here and wow ive learned allot reading here. and cant wait to be smoking my own meds and helping a few out also.

I, as well, give it away. However, I had to teach a greedy friend a lesson. Don't get me wrong, he is my friend but he has a tendency to be a bit dense and clueless at times. He smokes more the more available quantity he has access to...and as a result he forgets its value. This is one of my hobbies and I enjoy growing enough for myself and a few folks for the year. My friend ends up blowing through his gift early, asked for more and ends up getting more than his share of the community pot. So, one time he asked for more when I felt he was 2months early. I said no more at this time, no product you'll have to wait a few months I just have babies. He got so desperate that he got a card and bought some shop weed. He then realized its value and how cheap he's gotten off. Asked me to grow more next time.....I said "free weed and now you want more of my free time, power,water,soil, etc". Shortened story: He bought me some more lights and soil.......for the "community"
