I'd like to preface this by saying I've only ever grown once before a decade or more ago, and that's what brought me to this site. I was in high school and had minimal funds and knowledge but I managed to grow a bag seed "bonsai" soil plant in my closet with cfl only. I cut it way too early do to a contractor coming to the house and paranoia lol.

Now I'm a med patient in Illinois and allowed to grow legally, so this is my first "official" grow.

I read up on hempy buckets a couple months ago and thought it would be a good place to start.

I started this journal technically on February 5th in my phone so I'm going to post all my records and pictures from then til now so this first post might be lengthy.

I hope you guys enjoy and will give me constructive criticism and ask questions along the way. I love to learn and try new things.

So here we go.

February 5th

Soaked RR in water for 6 hours
Soaked Glueberry seed in water for 2 hours
Squeezed excess water from RR
Dropped in RR point up
Placed RR in tall shot glass
Put shot glass in plastic tub by vent under bed

February 6th

Checked RR after 12 hours
Seed had sank in RR didn't notice tap root
Checked RR after 24 hours
Noticed it dried a little so I added a few drops of water
Placed closed tub in tent 32" from light

February 7th

Checked RR after 36 hours
RR still wet as it should be and I notice what looks like a tap root and looks like it's headed towards the bottom
Moved the RR and glass into a "Pringles propagation can" and placed 32" from light.
Checked RR after 48 hours and definitely notice a tap root and seems to be headed up

February 8th

Checked RR after 60 hours
Seed/root is making its way towards top
Added a few more drops of water
Removed the lid from Pringles can
Still at 32" from light
Checked RR after 72 hours
RR was dry added more drops of water
Definitive tap root and seed almost to top

February 9th

Sprout coming from the top of RR
One of the starter leaves seems to be split

February 10th

Added a few drops of water to the RR
Pulled the RR and noticed a tap root from bottom >1"
Moved the RR to hempy bucket lightly covering the RR with perlite
Added some more drops of water around perimeter of RR

February 11th

Sprout seems droopy
Added more water drops around the RR
Added water through drain hole w/pipette
Added water around edge of bucket
Sprout still drooping and first leaves curling
I think with the RR in the shot glass and the root getting too long in it, it may have begun to get over watered before moving to the hempy bucket and the transplant is also taking a toll since the root was out of the bottom of the RR

February 12th

Sprout perked back up, leaves still drooping
Added a small amount of water ph to 5.9 with a sprinkle of MaxiBloom(only raised ppm by 60*)

February 13th

Sprout looks healthier and growing
Water is full to the res and RR is still moist at surface
Moved light closer at 26"
20200213_235251.jpg
February 14th

Growth continues
2nd set of leaves start to form
Empty some water from the res

February 15th

Growth continues
Seedling is straightening up more
Leaves not drooping but still curling some
Very bright green new growth in center
Res seemed completely empty but bucket remains heavy
Plan to water with cal mag and maxibloom tomorrow
Moved light back to 30"

February 16th

Mixed up some feed
I used ~1 gallon of rainwater (p.h. 6.8& 6 ppm)
Added 1ml of CalMag and 1/4 tsp Maxibloom
Ph was 4.3 and ppm 500 after mixing
Fixed p.h. to 5.7
Letting water sit for a while and re test
After 30 minutes ppm and p.h. stable
Watered until water came out the res and then a bit more
I'd guess just < 1/2 gallon
Put left over in milk jug
Moved light to 28"

February 17th

Seems like she liked the feeding yesterday
Noticeable growth since feeding
Humidity was low
Replaced bucket of stagnant water
Emptied res
20200219_014458.jpg
February 18th

She seems droopy
Time for more water
Left over feed smelled like rotten milk
Dumped it out
I thought I cleaned the jug good
Going to attempt to mix a small batch of feed
Added ~1/3 of 1/4 tsp cal mag to 3.5 cups rain water
It raised the ppm by 12 to 24 ppm
Added ~1/3 of 1/4 tsp maxibloom
Raised ppm by 188 to 212 ppm
That all lowered ph to 4.8
P.h. balanced feed water to 5.6
Going to pour all 3.5 cups down the stem
Notice a big growth spurt after work

February 19th day 14

Even more growth through the night
Leaves a little droopy again
Adding 3 cups plain rainwater p.h. @ 5.7 around perimeter of bucket
Emptied most of the res

February 20th

Growth is speeding up
I think roots are close to the res
Mixing up 4.5 cups of feed
Start p.h. 6.8 and 5 ppm
Added 65 ppm cal mag or ~1/3 of 1/4 tsp
Added 470 ppm maxibloom or ~1/2 of 1/4 tsp
P.h. 4.3 and ppm 540
Used p.h. up to get 6.0
Making an effort to drift my watering p.h. between 5.6 and 6.2 for feeding
Pouring all 4.5 cups down center of stem

February 21st

Added 4 cups rainwater p.h. @ 6.1 to base of stem
Installed 4" inline fan and carbon filter
Have it installed vertically right under the top exhaust so it's like a "fireplace/chimney" with filter starting 29" from floor
Moved old "exhaust fan" to the floor as an "intake"
Temps getting a bit hotter with carbon filter
Around 80 to 83° at the plant
Notice a bit of perlite turning green on top of RR
Possibly algae?(peroxide to fix?)
Emptied the res

February 22nd

Plant is growing fast
Temps stabilizing at 81° at plant
Notice more algae today on top of RR
If she isn't at the res I think she is real close
Calibrated both my ph pens
Going to mix 5 cups of feed
Start p.h. 6.2 and 3 ppm
Added about 2/3 of 1/4 tsp cal mag
Added about 2/3 of 1/4 tsp MaxiBloom
Shook mixture in jug
Out p.h. 3.9 and ppm 550
Used p.h. up to get 5.6
20200223_042655.jpg
February 23rd

Raised light 2" still 26" from plant
Raised carbon fan up higher in attempt to get temps down
Also closed register vents in the room the tent is in
After work (10 hours) temps seemed better around 79° and only got up to 82° at plant
Going to shut off my "floor/intake fan" and see what the temps do
After 1 hour temps and humidity are as good as ever 76° and 35%
I can tell the roots are reaching the res because a lot of the water was missing from the res (pour test)

February 24th

Temps and humidity stayed good through the night/start of lights on
Temps 74 - 76°
RH 32 - 37%
Notice first signs of side branches
Going to feed her again today
Starting with 6c rain water p.h. 6.6 ppm 5
Added 1/4 tsp cal mag raised ppm 135 to 140
Added 1/4 tsp maxi raised ppm 500 to 635
Fixed p.h. from 3.8 up to 5.6
A lot of growth through the day
Algae has not progressed
I think it's just the high moisture, light, and soil content from the RR and that's why it's isolated to the top of the RR
Temps stayed good all day only reaching 77° at the plant
Humidity is staying around 30% lights on
I think it's important to note at this point too temps in room the tent is in are averaging 71° and humidity 37%

February 25th

Not much to report
Growth continues

February 26th

I woke up to missed coming out of my passive intake
I left the humidifier on high while lights and exhaust were off
Humidity got to 100% or more if that is possible LOL
The floor was soaked in water and I dried it with a towel
The plant also was saturated with water droplets and pretty droopy
Left a fan on for half an hour and made an attempt to dry the leaves with a q tip
3 hours later everything seemed normal
Plant perked up and standing straight and stiff
Emptied the res
I also notice more algae now, I'm guessing because the perlite was saturated all night it's still not an alarming amount
Added 5 cups of plain rain water p.h. to 5.5 going to let it sit a few hours and dump to fill/flush the container
Moved the carbon filter and fan into a horizontal position 40" from floor in the back of the tent so I can raise and lower it and also allow my SCROG net to be installed.
