gnats infestation help.

There are adult gnats and little larva gnats in my soil what do I do to kill them all not just the adults. Please help it is getting worse every day. Oh yea they are gnats for sure not fruit flies.

You can try covering the soil with sand although I dont know if this is going to cause a bigger issue with the possible mess. If the top of the soil is completely covered it should smother them and not allow breeding

There are countless products, Google it.
Buhack works wonders on all plant pest. Gental, natural, and cheap. Sprinkle it around the grow room and watch em run!

lol sorry but that sounds like you are saying bukake around the room and watch them run

Gnats need standing water to breed. Remove enough soil so that you can add a full inch of sand. This will eliminate them, over a week or two, OR spray with Soap or Neem before adding the sand.

i read you can put potatoe slices on top of the soil and it attracts the larvae to it then you just throw away the slice with them on it. i have what i think are gnats to but only found 2 or 3 flying so far and kill them w hen i see.

i had this problem on my first grow and i used mosquito dunks but they didnt do shit. If you miss only a couple larva they will repopulate. I cant think of the name of them but i talked to the lady at the hydro shop and she said the only way shes been able to get rid of them was by bringing in a predator pest that wasnt harmful to the plants but ate the larva. I say either dont worry about it or try the sand thing. I went my whole grow with gnats and didnt have any negative side effects. Also i remember reading somewhere that you can use seran wrap and cover the top of the soil. Not sure how you would water if you did this, youd probably have to redo the wrap everytime. Not worth it if you have more than a couple plants.

using a product called gnatroll. It's a naturally derived powder that you water in, you can pick up at the hydro store. It can burn your plants so be careful. You can also go to practically any nursery and get nematodes. They come refrigerated on a sponge and you just ad them to your water.

try 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water and a few drops of dish detergent in a spray bottle mist the top soil every two days lol i been there and done that!! i like to feed with molasses and with that i get gnats!! you can put a layer of play sand on the top soil it will kill off the eggs.

I also have fungus gnats, luckily the problem seems to be very small at the moment. Only 1 flying around, dont know how many larvae their are though...
I baught sand from Rona, BUT it was outside in the Garden Center. Because it was outside, does this give the possibility for there to be bugs in the sand? Anyone able to answer ?

pretty sure you can use a large pot on stove and add lots of water and cook the sand pretty much should sterilize it, er maybe less mess to bake on tray

I found this DIY neem oil pesticide is this the right way to make it or should I use more neem oil or more soap. Also how often do I spray and where can I buy neem oil is it at walmart or in hardware store.
